Hey Guys,
I am running a map making competition over the course of 2 months!
I will be providing a prize to the winner too, there are NO RULES! I am looking for who can come out with the best map in terms of:-
-Creativity
-Gameplay
-Aesthetics
Basically, I am trying to bump up the PC side of the map editor, and want to see some awesome new maps, the winner will receive a prize through Steam!
The Prize Choices are:
- Assassins Creed: Black Flag
- Tomb Raider
- Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
- The Forest
- Trails Fusion
The winner will receive one of those 5 Games, which the winner may choose themselves!
If you don't have steam, then I'm afraid the competition may only be for entertainment purposes, however, if you have a PC but without Steam, I'm just going to call you crazy
I did not want to just put Ubisoft based games as prizes, mainly because I like to give people the option of choice.
There are a few small rules however,
- The Map must be Validated! Grid limits MUST be adhered to.
- The Map's navmesh must meet requirements
- Considering this is being backed, the map must NOT include any modifications of the game itself, so sorry modding community
- The map must be Published by Friday 20th March.
I will be doing a review on the top 5 maps, and the maps that are chosen for the top 5 will be put into a Poll here on the forums, there are also rules to the voting to make the competition fair too!
- The Poll will be monitored, any votes that are made by a new forum member will be looked over and possibly removed to prevent people creating multiple accounts just to vote.
- The Top 5 maps will be chosen by me, TheSlimReeper (and hopefully Kim & Ari may join in too)
- If you'd like to write a comment as to why you chose your favourite map, feel free.
- I will be creating a video for EACH of the top 5 maps so you can look at them better (if you are voting even though you don't own a PC)
The voting will begin on the 5th April, once the top 5 maps have been chosen and video's have been made for and the voting will run up until the 15th, so plenty of time to get votes in.
Watch this space for more information on The competition, I will be updating this as we go along.
Good Luck to anyone who participates! (a minimum of 10 entries is required)
Thanks for the sticky Jax! I hope this competition draws in some excellent map makers, I am providing plenty of time to perfect the maps.Originally Posted by Ubi_Jax Go to original post
Yeah, I'm afraid any competitions I run from now on will be PC onlyOriginally Posted by ImGonaG3tUsucka Go to original postI don't have any of the Current Gen Consoles, and am not getting FC4 for XB360.
However, if you want to participate in voting at the end of the competition, feel free, as it will be great help!
Sorry again
Yeah if you need me. I would prefer to play the map though. That's very nice of you to have a competition. I will be interested in seeing what is made.
I am getting a computer but not for a couple months. Have to wait on tax refunds. If I get FC4 your map I am legend will be one of the first maps I will play.
I'm gonna submit my first finished map. It's an extraction map, where the objective is to reach the top of a mountain peak. I think I will be disqualified though as I have some red grid limits and some red nav meshes here and there. But for all intents and purposes the areas with AI in them do not have a problem navigating, and the only reason I have red areas is because i'm obsessed with detail!
I haven't published the map yet as I was hoping Ubisoft might give us a patch to allow us to rename our map files, but if they don't I will upload the map as it's original name... wait for it.....
'TestMap1'!! - Yes I know, I saved the map first before I decided what to make of it. Spent 25+ hours on it. Got to publishing it. Realized I can't change the name! You could do it in FC3 map editor, but not this one!
I will attempt to embed some photos below. If it does not work or to see more photos follow this link to my Flickr Album: https://flic.kr/s/aHsk497HjC
Give me a shout if you want me to upload it.
Hey Sab, I am providing the prizes from my own pocket, it's the least I can do for this community to be honest.Originally Posted by Sabotur Go to original post
If Ubi wanted to add some extra prizes they are more than welcome, however because this is a competition I am running I don't expect anything from Ubisoft, not even contribution.
It would be great for Ubisoft to run some competitions as I can already see they are backing FC4 a little more than with FC3 (I still believe more can be done in terms of community engagement on these forums)
I don't mind running a friendly competition, It gives people a reason to make a map, they have a chance of winning something if their map is picked. Also I've ran competitions in the past that just didn't get enough entrants, so having a minimum of 10 maps seems reasonable for me, I may even drop it down to a minimum of 5, because we only need 5 maps to vote beside.
We'll see what happens in the future, I'm sure Ubisoft will make some sorts of contribution in the future![]()
