It's only locked on the slider in the game menu. There is a workaround that's pretty simple.

"The FOV can manually be set in the GameProfile.xml file.
    c:\(User)\My Documents\My Games\Far Cry 4
    Change the value of FOVScaleFactor.

Default is 1.0. The slide offers a range from 0.75 to 1.50, though you can set virtually any value you desire."

Surely you must have known before buying a 21:9 display that many games don't completely support it and you often have to find workarounds.

The fact is this game supports 21:9 better than it does 16:9.

In fact a lot more games are supporting it these days, but you must have known that Ubisoft is unreliable when it comes to PC ports. AC:U has proper 21:9 support where as FC4 doesn't.

Out of all the AAA games I purchased in 2014 only Ubisoft games had these issues. Ubisoft games normally take 6 months plus to be playable, so hold off on your money until then.

Anyways thanks for linking the work-around.

And you must have known by now that those with 16:10 displays, which have been around a HELL of a lot longer, by comparison aren't being supported even on screen fit. It's nit picking at best, esp considering that 21:9 still isn't mainstream, but 16:10 once was.

Like I said, most early adopters of tech as critical to support as displays, know well in advance they'll likely need to look for workarounds, and the one I just mentioned is easy to find, and use. There's not many people that fiddle with FOV after they get it set to their liking.

People like to toss the criticism around when it comes to Ubi, and much of it IS justified, but a lot of it lacks any comparison to what MOST devs are doing (I'm talking about 21:9 support, not port quality in general). The bigger devs are always more of a target, sometimes in fair ways, sometimes not so fair.
