Why isn't there a role play mode?

I'm just putting it out there I was kind of sad when i found out that in farcry4 I couldn't make a proper role play map (like cops and robbers or a city life map) as this is what my friends and I mainly did in fc3 (but without cars of course ). So I was just wondering if there was anyone else out there that would like a custom gamemode that could be adapted to the player's needs such as a role play mode for example.

Because it's a shooter, not an RPG.

Just want to point out that by definition that is wrong. RPG stands for Role Playing Game. You are playing the role of Ajay Ghale in his story about placing his mother at rest and liberating the country of Kyrat from a psychopathic dictator. The game shares its genre with shooter and is nether one on its own.

LOL, one could spit hairs over actual RPG definitions all day, but if you lose sight of the fact that FC is primarily a shooter with mere light weight RPG features tacked on, vs a made for role playing game, which is why actual RPG games are called that, well then, it's kind of a moot discussion isn't it?

RPGs have decidedly different characteristics. They involve dialogue choices and decision making, opportunities to pick a race, class, sex, etc. As well opportunities to have companions, relationships and even marriages, and the RPG elements such as inventory, trading customizing, building etc, are fully fleshed out, vs just light weigh addons.

So you can say you're playing the "role" of Ajay all you want, but when all you can do is fit that character within it's heavily scripted limits, no, you're not really role playing.

It's your lack of understanding of what role playing game truly means that is errant. You may think you are playing a role, but it's really the game playing it for you. A few measly choices of whom to side with, which only varies missions slightly, and whether or not to place his mothers ashes or listen to Min's spiel is nothing compared to games that let you fully develop your character. It's the difference between a game that' is designed for such nuances, and one that is designed primarily for gun combat, with shallow social tack ons.

So if you ant role playing features, I suggest you play actual role playing games, instead of expecting shooters to play like RPGs.
