    Can’t Acquire Free Mines Bug

Anyone else experienced the following bug in the game?

When you pick up free mines at any of the available locations, you actually don't acquire the mines?

Example: Explosive Bag crafted at 3/4. Should be able to carry six mines. Have four in current inventory. Go to a site that has three mines (an early tower zipline anchor block). Actually "pick up" all three mines, not two, but the inventory does not change -- still have four mines.

Can of course purchase mines, but clearly there's a coding problem here -- not that is any surprise.

I saw your topic, and was trying to remember anything like that in my game... The thing is I don't recall if it ever happened that pick-uped mines wasn't added to my inventory... May be It is place-specific? What exactly tower are you talking about?

More background: I only noticed this situation when the bag was at 3/4; easiest tower to test from is #2 - the one just a bit north of Khiana Bazaar (331/475). Can be tested by dropping some mines, then go pick some up and see if it actually fills your inventory. The situation did take place also from one of the high caves that held a mask. IIRC, Yakshini's Bondage (473/496).

I have now upgraded to 4/4, so plan on going to blow something up and run another test.

    Update:

My bad; I am NOT at 4/4 - that was the Heavy Ammo bag, not Explosives.

Just ran this test; With six mines planted three; two exploded; went to the above mentioned tower anchor block and visually picked up the three mines. My inventory only increased by one. So have four. Went back and picked up the unexploded mine I planted, inventory now at five.

I wonder if the following is happening; as far as the game is concerned I should only have a level 1 bag (i.e. a max of 4 mines) since I have not gone north in this play through? Could the code be set that only after going north, and THERE getting snow leopards, can you increase the bag size? This applies only to picked-up "pre-set" mines from within the game?

Great. Thanks. BTW, just for drill, I'm still using patch 1.5.

    OK, here we go.

You're definitely on something. I don't know whether it is a bug or some intentional feature, but if you have more than 4 mines, picking them up won't refill your inventory. Doesn't matter to which level your explosives bag has been upgraded, If you already have 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 mines picking them up is useless. They will disappear, but you will remain with the same quantity of mines. But if you have only 1, by picking up 3 mines you will acquire them all.
So if you crafted just 1st upgrade (capacity 3→4) you will never see that something is not right. But if you have upgraded your bag to 4/4(8 mines) and used 3 of them, the only way to pick up all 3 free mines is to throw 4 out of 5 mines you have, pick 3 free mines and finally collect all 4 mines you threw away.

So I guess the ? is, is it worth doing a "ticket" or whatever it is termed? Will u-b-soft even care, given the other, more serious issues they are (or are not) dealing with.

And I haven't even tried determining if this also happens with the C4 ...

Thanks for taking the time (which none of us should have to do) ...

    Oh, sorry, missed your update...

So basically you found out the "mechanics" of the "bug" by yourself..
I find it hard to believe that it has something to do with the idea that you supposedly can't get snow leopards in the South, because you obviously can... Just throw baits near Banapur (and any point on the map that is not specified by presence of particular predator), kill every predator that comes and sooner or later you will get your show leopard. This screenshot was taken 100 m from Banapur:

But you can always test this theory if you find some place with free mines in the North...

I think it's some intentional thing, like if you're already rich, you are not allowed to be any richer, you can use free stuff only when you really need it.
And think of that: it works only with items that you can retrieve when they wasn't used (i.e. exploded). You can refill any other type of ammo to the top.

Valid points; you use all/most of your mines on something, then you at least can get a few more in a pinch at certain locations. Yeah, it's really takes practice NOT to be rich in Kyrat ...
