It's because FC2 was the last complete FarCry, in terms of community. FC3 removed placing weapons freely and Ubi had a real fartjob about including vehicles in MP for some odd reason. We have all that back in FC4 except no multiplayer in custom maps. Co-op is 'coming' but where's the 16-player custom maps like the good old days? I think someone's just sad that people would rather play customs than the in-house maps.
Games are coming out with the focus on Single Player, and shoving Multiplayer into the Free-2-Play & MMO zones.
I hear ya brother. They need to get back to the gritty-on-the-edge non-linear, non-invasive simulated immersive realism that Far Cry 2 had. As much as I love to use sound-supressed high powered sniper rifles - it makes it EASY to take down fortresses and outposts without being detected. Far Cry 2 only had the MP5, dart gun and silenced 9mm to use to be "quiet". There are far too many weapons, and dumb AI to make it anything challenging. It's almost like shooting fish in a barrell. There needs to be a challenge where the game fights back like FC2.Originally Posted by xRaDRoacHx Go to original post
Another thing about FC2, the tenuous (at best) relationship between you and virtually everyone else. I loved walking into towns and having the mercs make comments to my character, I'd walk right up, get in their faces, and more often than not they'd get the idea I wasn't going to take any crap from them. It was funny, those trying to intimidate ended up intimidated!
The rest of the interaction really set the mood, you were always under the impression that one false move and you would end up having to battle your way out, like when you were trying to get diamonds in the guarded areas for example. Many times I'd hole up in one og the buildings in the north town (forget the name right now) and fire one shot, then pick off the mercs one by one til I was the last one standing. got very hairy most of the time, and by George, you REALLY felt like you might have made a mistake. By comparison, FC3 and FC4 are entirely more predictable, but I will have to admit, fun in their own way.
I want most of all the GPS/map from FC2, the grittiness, but I've really grown to like the hunting and crafting from 3 & 4. Not only is it more to do, but gives the animals something to do rather than walk into vehicles and fall over dead!
FC2 still reigns supreme, but with a little effort and some careful crafting, the devs could mix a bit of FC2/3/4 into a wildly successful FC5. But, they MUST make launch cleaner, I know many folks who refuse to buy after ACU and FC4's shakey launches.

Yup, after FC2, the MP went downhill. In FC4 they even removed the MP map editor, but I don't feel sad about it since there's still peer-to-peer, matchmaking, and the asymmetrical multiplayer.Originally Posted by JolanXBL Go to original post
Hopefully in FC5 we'll get a FC2 style MP... with map editor, dedicated servers, server browser and custom lobbies.
Yeah, Ubisoft needs to get to FC2 and improve everything, but i think that they will probably make a FC with dinosaurs since the "fans" want it.Originally Posted by Martythemerc Go to original post
Yeah I liked that too, It would be nice to have that again, another cool thing was that the enemies were able to move their injured buddy to a safe place and take care of them. Ubi needs to take advantage of the next gen and use more memory for a more intelligent AI and more features.Originally Posted by Far_Cry2_Fan Go to original post
I would love to have the real time map and the gps back as well, for FC5 I would use a Tablet PC instead of those "digital paper sheets" for check the map etc. Homefront 2 developers will make the players use a smartphone much like GTA but you can also check the map etc. in real time, same thing in Metal Gear Solid V you can check the iDroid in real time, even when you're driving. About hunting, I don't like it because after you upgrade the equipment it becomes pointless. IMO it would be better if our playable character could also eat in order to survive, have you ever played Fallout New Vegas in hardcore mode? Your character could die for starvation, dehydration, poisoning etc. I would love to have these features in a game like FC.I want most of all the GPS/map from FC2, the grittiness, but I've really grown to like the hunting and crafting from 3 & 4.
