    The linear story missions

    ...why...just why.

The missions for Willis are so horribly designed. The Dugresh prison escape mission is sooooo bad. Just got detected by a dog that was 20-30m away while I was behind a wall (just randomly starts barking, turns the corner and attacks me). The mission where you sneak into De Pleur's compound and kidnap him is a complete joke.

Linear, no option but to go straight ahead into the strategically placed bad guys. No knife, so you can't defend yourself. Throwing rocks doesn't seem to work against anyone on this mission (???).

So many parts of this games story missions are just absolute garbage, poorly tested and poorly designed. Would it have been so difficult and time consuming to create engaging missions with more than precisely ONE way to do them? This game is barely free roam anymore. I miss the days of an objective being done regardless of the means. Now it's "you must do it THIS way, or you fail".

I hated the escape from the prison at first. The first time I got detected and all hell broke loose and I was scrounging for cover and weapons. My 2nd play through though I found a good route to take to go undetected, even by dogs. 30' is not likely the distance that dog was from you, probably more like 15-20. Within a certain range they can smell or hear you, so you have to first spot them from a distance, then plan your route accordingly. Some rock throwing to lure them away from your planned path can help.

The only thing I don't like about De Pleur's mission is you have no option to assassinate him at his compound, even though it's said by both Noore and Sabal before and after you complete it. If you could kill him at his compound, he wouldn't tell Ajay about Noore's family, and she'd have no reason to commit suicide. It's not true though that you're defenseless. Even while carrying him you can use any sidearm you have equipped. It's also possible to sneak by many if not most the guards depending what route you take, esp if you carry a good silenced sidearm.

The route is wholly predetermined for success. You start off going down the left side of the cliff, then switch over to the right side (where you find the bow and the snow leopard den). If you go any other way, you will not succeed. (Tried it many times). No planning, just recognize the linear path and go. I basically walked right through the open and wasn't spotted...but going the other way, I was sniffed out or heard from a mile away through a blinding snow storm. Also, I tried 50 rock throws and not one drew the attention of a dog - a person, yes.

I had no problem getting to him, that was easy. The dumb part is carrying him all the way out. Like what the hell is that? I just dropped him, pulled out my guns and killed every single person in there. (Ya, not what I'd expect to get away with playing Far Cry on "hard"). I didn't see the point...make it difficult to get to him, and then that's it...the rest is just pointless. Or make you get caught loading him in, and then let the car chase commence.

It's so cheasy that while carrying him, I'm defending myself with a handheld grenade launcher. It's just too easy.

The time in between missions is all fine and good (still not great), but these linear story missions are horrible. Both of Willis' two missions in the mountains, and the De Pleur/Prison mission terribly designed. I really have no clue what they were thinking. By far and away these are the low's of this game.

This game also seems so much more glitchy than any other Far Cry. Like I mentioned in another thread, I've died 20+ times at least trying to deploy the wing suit off a cliff. I've been stuck in the world without able to equip a weapon (got me killed), just saw a Golden Path guy stuck inside concrete (could only see his chest and head, screenshotted because it was funny looking), I've seen guys walking in mid air, awful hit detection (mostly with the sniper rifles, this games uses hitscan so no excuse).

Plus the PvP multiplayer is beyond bad, the top rated extraction maps by players are beyond trash (not the games fault), etc...this game could have been sooooo much more than what it is.

Speaking about De Pleur´s Mission ( City of Pain ) , its totaly possible to sneak past every guard with him on your back until you reach the car . What i dont like about this mission is the fact that it doesen´t matter how sneaky you where before you get him , even how good you have hidden the body´s is irrelevant because as soon as you got De Pleur on your back and you walk over a certain area ubisoft made a trigger that every enemy in the city of pain is on edge and i think i remember even a alarm was sounded even noone ever saw me . For game wich is released at the end of 2014 i think this is very bad interms of level design . It destroys the whole work you made bevore staying undetected and hiding the bodies . Sadly there are many other missions with those kind of triggers too wich makes stealth approaches totaly useless in this particular missions . Far cry 4 got a great ammount of weapons and attacks you could use for stealthing , so why not let the skill of the player deside if stealth works or not instead of adding "STEALTH IS OVER NOW" Triggers ..... cant understand this ....

Yeah I got to him totally Undetected. Then as I was leaving, suddenly everyone comes after me. I was never spotted until they went on high alert.

At that point I just dropped him, went around and killed em.

Yeah but its sad isent it ? I mean if you have the skill to stealth a mission you should be able to stealth a mission . There is realy no need for such a trigger like in that city of pain mission ....

I agree 100%, wasn't disagreeing with you. I was just sitting there like, "why did I just sneak through here?". I think I killed 2 guys getting to De Pleur, no one could have found their bodies since I threw one basically outside the map and the other into a bush.

I failed the first 10 times trying to save hostages, only to realize that is just totally futile since no matter what, you'll be seen by someone.
