Far Cry Escape from Durgesh review

You Die alot, this means that you replay the exact same 6 missions with the exact same dialogue from Pagan over and over and over and over again.

You'll spend and hour or 2 getting ready for the finale at the extraction point completing the same missions as last time, having arrived at the extraction point and preparing explosives around the road, the enemies will start appearing, 90 seconds into the attack you'll get 2 shotted by a sniper you cannot see and die, this is whilst having 6 bars of health. This has happened to me 3 times now, you will be forced to hide in a building shooting at the door until you run out of ammo.

The Perma death is really badly implemented, you keep skills, guns, and crafting you've already completed which kinda renders the perma-death useless in my opnion. Also most of the animals you need to craft things aren't on the map, and require dumb luck to actually find them.

This all happens on the exact same map as the main game. No new area's at all.

I find that this DLC is a grind where you'll do the same things 20 times, trying to build up your character in order to survive an almost impossible ending. In my opinion this DLC will be enjoyed by people who like doing the same thing over and over again and expecting things to change. And maybe some people in co-op, which doesn't make things any easier at the end btw.

    Not Recommended 4/10

Questions and criticism's about my review welcomed in the comments

I agree. this dlc is rubbish, I don't rate it one bit .

If all the dlc's are like this one this will be the last farcry I will get. [ very disappointed ]

What's new on this DLC? All the same, but borried about to start again, and again the same game... same tower, and all to discover again.

Really is so difficult to create any new animal, some new scenario, flying cows... something new??? Something new to feel that it's worth buying the season pass.

AND STILL BUG IN LOCATION X:642 Y:675 !!! In "new" mission I can discover it, but in normal game it is bugged, always with "?" symbol...I am disappointed

Can't rate it until I play it, but judging from some responses I've seen to the Durgesh Escape in the main game, I have to wonder if such complaints are overblown if it's based on the same scenario. At first I thought the escape mission in the main game was going to be impossible without detection, then my next 2 play throughs on Normal and Hard I managed with no alerts whatsoever. Even if it's the same thing but timed now, I'm not worried, because my escape time was pretty quick too. My only concern is whether they've added new enemy spawns.

I'll be checking it out later today, so I'll know then. Anyway, I'm actually more interested in the Valley of the Yetis. That is the only thing in this DLC regarding sp that is new really, and my primary reason for wanting to play it.

I read a mostly positive review, and it seemed bad. It seems gimmicky and cheap. Timed, too. Yikes. Again, not the staple "Far Cry" gameplay I'm used to.

That's what I heard, thanks for posting A review.

better luck with the yetis.. it's gonna be the last released DLC and if it's anything like watch dogs bad blood DLC it will be worth it's asking price, but 10$ for a timed DLC which contains only a couple of new side quests is asking too much of us ubisoft.

I watched a video that showcases some of the new side quests which are the same missions from far cry 4 so if anything you might wanna get it just so you can play the new missions if nothing else.

yuma's wrath isn't anything like pagan's wrath convoys, (it's just you blowing up boats and trucks with a grenade launcher emplacement..

eye for an eye: has you killing three targets at Jalendu Temple with knives which is the same formula as the wanted dead missions in Far Cry 3.

Bomb Disposal: I don't know where this new bomb disposal mission is however it's icon was on the map.

there might be a couple more of them but for the majority of the DLC you're going to be fighting for time by playing these missions, completing karma events, taking over reset outposts and tearing up posters and spinning bells to increase your time limit before having to reach an area that has nothing to do with durgesh prison, matter of fact there are no new areas to explore and the whole DLC takes place in northern kyrat with everything reset as if you would have never even explored northern.

I think the DLC is an alternate story line, where instead of you invading the northern part of kyrat you are attempting to escape it and this being after you've broken out of Durgesh prison in the story. It has to be A what if you had done this instead of that type scenario because it's separate from the main game and has it's own menu. It sort of is like Bad Blood if you've played it already but it is not worth paying 10 bucks for the same game play minus a few new side quests and an annoying time limit.

A question for those who have played it: How hard is it playing solo? I get that if you die you have to start back at the top of the tower but can you upgrade your health bars or are you stuck with what you have?

LOL, didn't even notice you'd been stalking me, sorry.

Turns out I'd made a mistake on having the Yak Farm mission. A friend of mine has it on Uplay and I'd forgotten I was over at his place playing on his system. That pic I uploaded was one he'd taken and I assumed I had it too, but forgot I have the Steam version instead. I can't access the DLC either, and I alluded to that in one thread.

Sorry for the confusion, and delayed response. I haven't been playing the game much lately due to other stuff I got going on, so I've only been in and out here and not following the threads closely. I also rarely check my PMs becasue I don't typically get many. Maybe because I'm one of the old farts here, I don't know. LOL

I think it's odd in AC IV those of us on Steam got Freedom Cry before those on Uplay, and now a reversal as if Ubi is insisting you have an advantage if buying it on Uplay. Maybe some advertising leveraging going on.

BTW akunamatata, forgot to say that for some time I've not been able to see my sent PMs, and I never get responses back when I send one, which is part of the reason I don't even check PMs anymore.

Ubi are always failing at the tech end of things.

    Thank you for the reply!

It's quite all right, I'm just relieved that it was a simple confusion and you don't really hate me for something I don't even remember... LOL )))))

BTW, your PM module seems to work OK, I received both of your messages.
I sent you another one, you can check your inbox again.
