Hello! As someone who is rank 3, I encounter Legends sometimes. But not all of the Legends I encounter want to ping-pong, and, instead, go all in. My question is: What is it good for? It does not earn you a lot of chips nor coins ( depending on how many times I take the tracks back, of course ). So, I'd like some answers. Thanks!![]()
Even if you reached the legendboard, there is ranking. And some players, care about that. Some players are competitive, they just want to win.
It is kind of "Bragging Rights".
Probably the wrong place to be asking such a question, since I think all legends here will try to initiate ping ponging. Unfortunately we are but a small portion of the Trials Frontier population.
I can only assume that the people who go all in straight away only do so because they don't know any better.
I see! Thank you for the answer!Originally Posted by chiron1127 Go to original post
@Casually I have no idea where to ask it otherwise, so I figured this would be the best place.
personally i think the legends that do that just dont understand the ping pong strategy. i dont think they are trying to be a jerk i think they just dont put that much thought into the game.
i am in the legend ranking for now 10 ten days and every showdown i start a ping pong.
0 went in with me. Between guys who always set times with 0 fault right after me and the ones who wait the last 15 minutes to strart racing it really gets boring.
If there wasnt races to unlock i would not do showdowns anymore. NO FUN
for that reason i wish showdowns were only and hour long
to be honest i will always ping pong with any opponent i play, but even though i am a legend, i will still try and win because i need chips and coins! but i'll ping pong for as long as possible!
I've educated a few along the way (legend or otherwise), when I have the chance to send them messages. Most say something like "so THATs why I get people setting 25 faults on every track. I'll go read up on this".since I think all legends here will try to initiate ping ponging. Unfortunately we are but a small portion of the Trials Frontier population. I can only assume that the people who go all in straight away only do so because they don't know any better.![]()
It is true the forum folks are a small portion of the population (but probably a large portion of the legends). However, I can think of a few legends who are fundamentally opposed to ping-pong simply because its not how the game was "supposed to be played". They DO know the choices. Its even been referred to as cheating/exploit, and I'd be very surprised if those folks did anything but try to do their best. This is a competitive game after all, and its certainly a valid viewpoint; just one I dont really share all the time. Mostly, its because some people value rank/competition above all else, while other folks have different goals entirely (chips, etc). Since you can compete at the end of pong, I dont feel the two are mutually exclusive...I can look at the top 25 of Legends, and I've ponged with at least 6 so far. . .so I believe plenty of folks are competitive and DONT have issues with pong.
To me, the game is supposed to be fun, and if you get enjoyment from helping someone else attain legends, then ... enjoy. Nobody can tell you you are playing the game "wrong" if you enjoyed yourself and nobody else was hurt (ie a hacker would be an example of someone who is wrong).
