No offence meant to any of the dev team for the game, but I kind of expected a little more variety in the weapons options. What's there is good, don't get me wrong.... but it's really starting to bug me about shotguns in these types of games lately. What's with this limitation to pump action or earlier forms on the shotguns? I get the appeal of the single round reload too, but their have been a variety of mag based shotguns out for some time now. About the largest ammo cap shotgun I've seen in games lately is the street sweeper in Payday 2, but even that thing is single round reload. I'd like to suggest for if/when a DLC gets released for Far Cry 4 that a Saiga-12 type shotgun manage to make the cut or something of that nature.
Probably because "they're supposed to be like that". All these old shotguns, and somehow a SPAS 12 that is fantastic.. but it's the only 'real' shotgun you ever see in games, most of the time even that isn't semi-auto.
I can deal with that, but what annoys me more is the extremely limited range in games. Shotguns have lots of range, they're used for hunting. You don't shoot anything point blank when you hunt. They just spread a lot.
Maybe it's because they would get overpowered.
That's one that has really bothered me as well. I think that particular nerfing is mostly due to pvp based games though. Most of the games that I see shotguns in also have pvp in hand with them as well. PROPER shotgun mechanics end up being rage nerfed in most cases due to them being op in a pvp setting. Destiny is a great example of seeing that go down the toilet while being beaten to death with the nerf bat.
Well, to nit pick a little, it does have a mag, but it's internal.
Wish they would add something rare such as the Saiga-12, SPAS 15 or something you don't see in every game, something that reloads fast.
FC4 has been really good on the gun bit in general IMO.
Also, how about an addition to the 700 Nitro in Far Cry 5? It's a dinosaur gun.
Well, FC is mostly a single player campaign game. I can't wait for a mod that fixes the basic pump shotgun. It would be my favorite weapon to use if not for its laughably short range. Real shotguns are exceedingly dangerous up to 50 yards or more... in FC4 it's more like 5 yards. Battlefield is the only game that does shotguns right. They are really unstoppable weapons, especially the semi-auto combat shotguns like the Saiga. I also don't know why they don't allow for slugs. I've shot slugs out of a Mossberg 500 many times, the amount of devastation that would cause if hitting a human target is immense.

I like the shotguns in FC4, but yeah the range is pretty laughable.... I think they should add Standard Manufacturing's DP-12 Shotgun. If you want an awesome shotgun, that would be it.
Someday one of these games needs to add things like exotic ammo for their shotguns, everything from explosive rounds you craft yourself to dragon's breath (correct me if that already exists).
