Wait, I'm confused. I only thought you needed to complete the missions in the companion app. What is this about playing in the helix rifts?

Please completly read the first post, it is important.

Finishing the companion app unlocks the artifacts in the Helix Rifts (if you had the game up and running in the moment you ended the mission - otherwise you might not get them unlocked).
Once they are unlocked I urge you to do a savegame backup and then you have to try collecting the according artifacts. If the according items to the artifacts don't unlock, you have to restore the save game and do it again.

If you need more information about the Helix Rift artifact locations, please follow these links:
    http://www.playstationtrophies.org/f...artifacts.html
http://lightningamer.com/assassins-c...tefacts/71440/ (French, but has maps with locations marked at the end)

    So "easy" to-do list:
    - start the game
    - connect the app with the game
    - confirm ending one of the artifact missions
    - have the game tell you the artifact set was unlocked
    - do a save game backup
    - go and try collecting the three artifacts of this set (read first post & links above)
    - if reward item for this set is not unlocking reload save game backup and do again
    - continue doing this until the item is unlocked
    - do another save game backup so you don't lose the item anymore

Luckily, I was able to get the gear & Altair's outfit. Unfortunately, no Artifacts Memento...

Sorry to be obtuse, I did read the original post multiple times. I still don't get it. I thought they unlocked via the companion app and I have never seen any mention of having to go into a helix rift mission. I am not saying you are wrong, I just never realized this was more laborious. It may already be too late for me.

Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to backup on xb1. I believe they are synced to the cloud saves, so simply loading the game forces it to take the most recent save.

Also, I can't get the companion app to sync with the xb1. It just seems to fail to connect.

Seems I am doomed not to get this. All this over a crappy skin.

If you have never seen any mention of having helix rift missions to play, then you haven't read the app and ingame description carefully enough.

In the game it is written for the helix rift artifacts that you have to unlock them first via the app. And the app tells you when an artifact set is unlocked that you can now collect the helix rift artifacts to get the reward. The app even tells you in which 3 rifts that particular set was unlocked. And I know that I'm right because I unlocked Altair's outfit with the second retry as written in the first post.

I don't have an XB1, so I can't tell, but I would have expected it to have a possibility to store save games also on USB sticks or such. And on the PS4 you can deactivate the auto sync with the cloud, which I did. I only store those save games in the cloud that I know are good.

However, if you can't get the app to sync with the XB1 you're kind of lost Every chest, every ingame companion mission, and every artifact you unlock in the app must be synced to the game to be of any use. If this is not working the app is doing nothing for you but waste your time, I'm sorry

Thanks. To be clear, I have always believed that you are correct on this. I also appreciate the time you spent helping others with this post. The good news for me, is that after further reading the descriptions in rewards, I do see a reference to the helix missions for the last set of Invalides and Pantheon (I think that is right). I haven't finished either one of those yet so maybe there is some hope.

All my research on the unlockables was from about when the game launched. I just thought you played and got the unlocks, but apparently there is another step. I hadn't encountered it yet, so I didn't know otherwise. I did see a reference to some additional artifacts in the helix rifts, but never put these two together.

Strange but, XB1 doesn't allow usb sticks for game saves for some reason. Only the HD and the cloud (though you can stores games on an external HD), otherwise the saves are locked. One of my many frustrations with the console. I have a ps4, but since I started AC1 on the xbox, I have kept the series all in one place. I have never seen a sync option on xb1, perhaps worth further exploration.

In regards to the companion app, it does sync information on next load, it just won't allow me to connect while in game (real time). This only started a couple of weeks ago. Other than my helix markers never showing up in game (the points you set in the app that are supposed to show up in game), it had worked prior to that. Now I have to play the app, turn it off, go in-game and get the collectable, close the game, then open the app (at which point all my assassins who had been sent to collect the reward are available to use again) to make progress.

I noticed your post the day after I collected my last few artifacts - all of the Initiates ones, which I was able to obtain thanks to your tip in another thread.

I did not unlock the Fauchard or the Flintlock, but upon collecting the final artifact I did unlock the Artifacts Memento.

I do have Altair's outfit and all the Tailored Phantom gear, though.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention that not receiving one or more pieces of artifact-unlocked gear does not necessarily bar you from unlocking the Artifacts Memento, although I don't have an explanation as to why that is. Looking at bad johnny law's post above, it seems that it's also possible to get all the gear but no memento, so... who knows.

Edit to add: I just remembered that the final artifact I collected wasn't from the Rifts, but rather was one of the ones in Paris (in Ventre de Paris somewhere, I believe). From a few reports in the thread I've linked below, it seems that the Artifacts Memento can be unlocked just by collecting the Paris artifacts - no rift artifacts necessary. Given your suggestion that we need to be sure to be online when collecting artifacts, maybe you need to be online when collecting every single Paris artifact, or perhaps just be online for the very last one. I know I was online for my last one, but have no idea if I was for the few dozen others.

Unfortunately I'm on the same boat, I collected all artifacts and no Altair outfit but did recieve the Artifact Momento. However I do have a back-up save of my game, the back-up save only has a total collection of 3 artifacts from rifts. These artifacts luckily aren't the ones from any of the Pantheon sets, but I think 1 or 2 may have been from Les Invalides missions. From reading this thread I believe I'm able to use the save and back-up method to unlock Altair's robes but wanted to make sure if I'm able to still do this even with a few artifacts already collected in my back-up game data.

Also is there any way of distinguishing which artifacts are the ones to unlock the Altair robes. I noticed it was mentioned that you collect a set of artifacts and then save the game on your back-up data (I assume by set it means the three articats unlocked by each companion mission in the Pantheon and Les Invalides distrcits). So is there a way to tell which artifacts belong to which set, and able to distinguish between artifacts unlocked via Initiates and the Companion App?

You should avoid any mission restarts and desync in a rift you just collected an artifact from. Always go to the portal to save your progress.

Sorry, not fully correct. I tried really a lot of things, this was one of them.

If you collected the artifact it is either internally counted or not - no matter what is happening afterwards (restart mission, just end by the menu, de-sync, go to the exit, etc). And unfortunately you can't see if it was counted or nit for the rewards ...

In fact the third try I finally unlocked Altair's outfit I just ended the rifts after collecting the artifact by ending the missing by the menu. When I collected the artifacts before for the tailored Phantom set collecting 3 different artifacts in one Rift by restarting the mission worked fine, in the end I got the items for those three. But one item where I just had to collect one more artifact from a Rift is still missing. At this moment I didn't knew that you need to recollect all three artifacts if an item is not unlocking. I have a savegame with 2 of 3 artifacts already collected for that missing Phantom hood, but no matter how often I retry to collect the third one and no matter how I end the mission, the artifact is not unlocked because one of the two before is causing the issue. In the end I indeed have a full 100% complete sync on everything in Unity, but still no Initiates weapons or the Phantom hood - which I can live with, as luckily I figured how to get Altair's outfit for sure:

There is really no rule like do this and avoid that, it's all urban legend. The game simply has a bug and all you can do to make sure it is working is to retry again and again.
