    My opinion of FC4.

The developers have nailed it when it comes to the general gameplay mechanics, and that's good.
The game engine itself and the graphics are all good too in my opinion.

But the characters, their backstory and the overall story is very weak, even weaker than FC3.
I don't really know that much of Ajays past and history, as a player i'm just thrown in the game, starting mowing down bad guys like some sort of Rambo.
Poorly done of the guys that was in charge of storytelling in FC4. Of course I know some of the story and character details thanks to in-game letters and stuff. But why not
tell important, engaging parts of the story thru good in-game cinematics?

Almost all the intresting supporting characters in FC4 are really shallow, has no good backstory and so on, even Pagan Min.
The developers has characters like Willis, Longinus and Pagan Min but they didn't use them good when it comes to storytelling.
Even Ajay as the character the player is controlling, are an weak and pretty boring guy. Ajay feels somehow unbelievable as an Rambo savior.

Why does Ajay have his ordinary clothes even when he is in freezing Himalayas and all the enemies are geared up with warm clothes? Really, really bad and sloppy
    design choice from the developers!

The game is about violence, death, weapons. The game has in some ways, swear words, drugs and human trafficing in it too. But the blood and gore when you shoot an enemy or burn him is really weeeak, like some sort of kiddy censor stuff. I'm not for over-the-top gore and dismemberment in FC4, but bullet wounds/holes on the bodies
and red mist/bigger sprays of blood when you shoot guys is enough and a good visual indicator that you hit your target.
Skinning an animal should leave a bloody carcass and burning an enemy or animal should leave burnt bodies. As the game show and handle those things at the moment it is really unrealistic and a poor design choice again.

The gear or the lack of gear that's i showing on Ajays body in third person perspective is just strange. He doesn't have a backpack, or tactical west with pouches or gear like that, so where does he store ammo, weapons, items and stuff?? You don't even see him bearing a second weapon on his back.
The gear he is constructing from animal hides, where does it go I wonder!?
Once again poor design work and lack of details.

I am one of those persons that have real problem with the Co-Op or lack of it. Really bad that one of the key features does not work!

    Tips for future FC5:

Pay attention for details when it comes to graphics, even small details.
Create a engaging story, and don't make characters that has potential, shallow.
Make an believable main character. Soldier or mercenary preferably.

For me you could even go back to the african setting again, now with your better game engine and good gameplay mechanics.
Even the "old weapon jamming" mechanic could do a comeback, but with some improvments gameplay wise.
The african setting feels really realistic and in time so to speak.

I think you missed the point

I'm not sure if you were paying attention to "detail" but the story is laid out to you as the game progresses. Whether it be Pagan Min telling you about your parents, Sabal believing in your father's vision of the Golden Path, reading your father's Journals or Willis telling you about your father, there is a lot of back story that is unfolded as you play the game. Here is a link to your father's journal that explains a lot.

As far as the idea that Ajay couldn't possibly carry so many weapons or animal hide etc. is an aspect of any game that you suspend disbelief. Could Ajay really carry 5,000,000 Rupees? I think not. Could he carry 30 Rhino Hides? well of course not. The game isn't supposed to be technically realistic in that sense, just as a fictional character in an RPG style game couldn't possibly wield a 12 foot long Ragnarok sword or small creatures roaming in the woods wouldn't carry a lot of money for you to collect. It is a game and the most important part of the game is the playability, the graphics, replay value and fun.

I agree with you 100%.Even the letters or scraps you collect troughout the game gives you some backstory about Pagan Min,Ajay's parents,Kyrat and others.

Yes, you guys are right, stuff about the story, characters and so on is told thru radio conversations, notes and letters. But a few of those should be interesting enough to be told in a in-game cinematic fasion. Maybe a few flashback cutscenes.

The backstory about Ajay himself (not his parents) is almost non existing. I didn't know anything about his past when i played the game.
Later I read some stuff about him on Far Cry 4 Wiki. But that's the wrong way to find out stuff about the main character in a game.

Willis and Longinus should have bigger roles in the story, they have potential and are interesting enough. Hope to see that in the next FC.

The FC games is about semi-realism like some sort of hollywood action-movie. So when I see the character draw his sniper rifle from his invisible magic pocket it looks just stupid. I know developers need to find a good "middle ground" when it comes to visual details and animations.
But they could have done it somehow better than how it is done now.
Adding a soldiers tactical vest could be enough for a bit more immersion and at least add a visible holster for a handgun on the character model.
I do understand if the Ajay character had a backpack and also carried a weapon on his back it is prone to show a lot of visual clipping issues, like when driving a car. Also it is somehow less believable to go skydiving with the wingsuite and a heavy backpack + weapon on his back.

I'm not wanting 100% realism, because it is not possible and it also breaks the gameplay mechanics too much and makes the game less fun and more irritating in different situations. But I do want good enough details and so on that keeps up the immersion as best as possible.

It is plausible he could carry 5.000.000 Rupees. Kyrat is in civil war and the country economics is busted, the Rupee value is inflated.
Maybe one Rupee bill has the value of 200.000.

    PS.
In the next FC they should add the ability to go prone, adding more stability and accuracy, mainly to weapons like sniper rifles and machineguns that should be harder to use in the first place. It is also adding less chance to be spotted.
