I am a big fan of the far cry series and have been since far cry 1. I feel, having played all of them, that you guys are improving on some things but ignoring some good aspects about older far cry's. I love that you are making bigger maps and that we you are implementing coop. Eventually it will be nice to have the campaign in coop to. I love coop games, can't get enough of them and I had a blast in FC4 coop. But, there are very small things that did not improved.
1. For example viewing the map. The best way to look at the map was in FC2. I hate how it is in FC3 or 4. You guys should defiantly implement FC2 map system in next game.
2. Now jumping into something that I have notice that it has not improved since FC1, storyline. The single player stories in FC2 and 4 were not solid enough to make you feel that you are making a difference. In FC2 to be honest I was bounced around so much it was clear all I was there to do is, hey go kill this people, get more money and buy more weapons. In FC4 it was the same thing but the people I was helping were just a bunch of a$$4oles to the main character all the time. When the game finished I was left in a world that was not different then when I started playing. Just doesn't make sense. Also you use to ad a twist to the stories and make the game scary in many ways. FC1 was great like that. Never had a clue I was going to be fighting monckeys. The game throws you clues here and there and I loved that. Then it got serious and hard core. Even on easy that game is still the hardest far cry to pass. Go ahead try it and let me know. You'll see lol. Now that is what you are missing.
3. But, the multiplayer is what worries me the most. You made a timeless amazing multiplayer on FC1 and have not topped it ever since. I remember all the styles of gameplay that were there to please everyone. My favorite was Assault. Massive maps like battlefield with modern weapons and vehicles and this was before battlefield 2 came out. So you were on to something good here. Now, in FC2 it was good, but not better. I do love the fact that we were able to play our own custom maps and easy. Thanks to the map editor that you included with the game. FC2 just cause of that, it was an amazing game none the less. Then comes FC3. I do think the game play was fun but to much like CoD and people did not like it. Now in far cry 4 you come up with this weird gameplays and that's ok. But, my point is that you don't have to try to be CoD or something new specially when you had such a good multiplayer in FC1...do the same and you will have a very successful MP. Is that simple.
FC4 was a great game, but it could have been better. I didn't feel the energy in conflict between the Pegan's army and The Golden Path.
Since its a war zone, a lot of pedestrains action and emotions could have had given the touched. E.g. They could have made us do more things for the citizens. I felt like all I had to do was shoot things everywhere. They could have added more side gameplays, like finding lost things for citizens, building houses, upgrading stuff & land and houses. Reconstructing the environment. Amita & Sabal could have given us more side missions. I just loved the Homestead mission from AC3 and wanted to see more of those in a game.![]()
1. I agree, the real time map was fantastic, FC 5 must really have it. Ubi should learn from MGSV & Homefront 2
2. I don't agree, I still didn't played FC4 , but I think that FC2 & FC4 are different between each other yes, you was able to choose between UFLL and APR like Amita and Sabal, but FC2 worked differently, you could choose to have support from your buddies or do the mission alone, the game wasn't perfect but it's my favourite FC
3. That's one of the reasons that stopped me to buy FC4, they removed the MP editor, introduced asymmetrical gameplay and the game still has p2p. I hope that in FC5 they make a improved version of FC2 MP.
I totally agree. Let's keep lobbying for a Far Cry 2 gameplay format using some of the "things" from FC4, but not the mystical linear items, nor the special powers, x-ray vision, or super animals.Originally Posted by xRaDRoacHx Go to original post
Yes! What FC5 needs IMO is an improved FC2 gameplay and survival features. Our playable character could die for dehydration, starvation, poisoning etc. He will need to find water in order to survive, hunting will play a better role so it won't be needed for upgrade our equipment only... I'll just make that thread someday.Originally Posted by Martythemerc Go to original post
LOL, how can you agree or disagree when your not having even played FC4 leaves you oblivious to some key facts? In Far Cry 4 there's a variation on the "Buddy" system, it's just called Tokens now. You buy tokens and can use them to call in support from the Golden Path.Originally Posted by xRaDRoacHx Go to original post
Just don't use the camera or weapon tagging. If you are, you're to blame, not the game. The only thing you really need to use the cam for is taking pics of enemies. Any of the long range scopes more than suffice for surveying the enemy, and can be had very early in the game.Originally Posted by Martythemerc Go to original post
When it comes to animals. I say predators are what keeps Far Cry 3 and 4 so much more dynamic, spontaneous and unpredictable than Far Cry 2, which was bland and unrealistic by comparison with only zebras, wildebeests, etc running around. And if you think that was a conscious design choice omitting them, Ubi said they tried to implement them in FC2 too, but ran into imbalance problems with too many of one species being wiped out by other animals. FC2 also had a horrible story.
With the huge success of FC3 & 4, I really doubt the few that want a throwback to FC2, most admitting wanting many FC4 features, are going to be appeased. So "lobby" on, in the end, I don't think it will matter much. There's too many things about FC2 most hated, and many things about the last two most prefer, for them to make the mistake of going back to that. Hell, many of these complaints don't even make sense, like the wall hacking, which is completely user choice.
If you would have played FC2, you would probably know that you have two ways for complete a mission, when I say having "support from your buddies" I mean "help you to make the mission easy" and not "following you around the map like companions", in short I meant to say "non linear". FC4 Missions are linear.Originally Posted by Frag_Maniac Go to original post
Actually I did play Far Cry 2 and was one of the ones that in fact didn't complain a lot about checkpoint respawns like most did, because there were at least a few plausible ways to avoid contact with them. That said, both the buddy system and events to help people in the field were much more poorly implemented. Often times when you went to help someone, the battle was already over. However, I don't put a lot of value in crutches (using AI for aid), because at the end of the day, the FC fanbase is more hardcore shooter fan than the type that need them.Originally Posted by xRaDRoacHx Go to original post
