In Far Cry 4 graphical models used for different LOD (level of detail) levels of an object (especially buildings and such) are so different from each other, that the transitions between them while moving towards or away from an object really hurt my eyes...
Very good example I used in the video below is a bell tower:
Can anyone suggest some profile tweak or something to make these transitions smoother? Are there any alpha blending or morphing settings availible?
Thank you!
Umm... I haven't noticed a difference since patch 1.6, not that I looked very hard...
This effect started to really attract my attention since Far Cry 3...
I examined Profile files and didn't find any settings regarding LODs and distances...
I think it will require some serious modding to change the picture.
No, no, I haven't touched it. I know this setting, some people who complain on stuttering change it to "1". Some say after that textures become blurred...Originally Posted by MitchThundercok Go to original post
The "radio-towers-look-terrible-at-distance" problem started for me at Patch 1.6. I don't have any technical backup for the theory, but before 1.6 towers looked fine to me at distance. Not great, but not absurd like the vid.Originally Posted by akunamatataa Go to original post
Also, if you think that texture pop is bad.... have you played Rome 2: Total War? The texture pop in that game is eyeball destroying.
It's LOD dithering, and that effect is horribly awful. It might look good when rendered on a sub-1080p resolution, far away from the screen- on a TV (which doesn't have all this pixel precision anyway...), e.g. might improve the transition on consoles if you're far away, but destroys the image when playing on a high resolution...
And there's a problem here, it's not simple to turn off. You'll have to go through every single entity in the world to disable it (at least I haven't found a quick way to disable it, haven't been looking for one too much anyway)
Hey razor do you mean:Originally Posted by razorfinnish Go to original post
<field name="bLodDitheringEnable" type="Boolean">True</field>
Would it cause any performance impact to remove this from the world objects?
