    New Map - Pilgrimage Peak

I just published my third Far Cry 4 map, Pilgrimage Peak and I am very excited to announce that this is my first linear map. The map was inspired by Jaavaa's excellent map, "An eye for an eye". It is meant to feel like a progression in story and environment, not just an over-sized arena like my first two maps. It is also my first snow map.

The story of the map is that you have been waiting to make a religious pilgrimage to the top of the mountain, where legend has it the gates to Shangri La are located. Unfortunately, the king's royal army is camped on the path to ensure that no one can make the pilgrimage. But earlier that day you heard a thunderous roar as an avalanche wiped out half the royal army's camp. Now you are confident that you can overcome the remaining forces and make your pilgrimage.

The map is a continuous climb as you summit the mountain. The path contains caves, hidden shrines, statues, and even more surprises. This map took me countless hours, much longer than my previous two maps. Unfortunately, the vista does not work when the map is played from the map browser, but it will work if you play the map in the editor. Overall, this does not affect the map very much and does not hurt the visuals too much. Screenshots of the map are below: Video to follow in the next few days.

Looking Good. How did your navmesh come out on that bell tower?

Thanks Jim. My navmash came out just fine for the tower (there is no red zone indicating too complicated of a navmesh), but it doesn't matter because there are no enemy AI at that location of the map (except a tiger at the base). I kept it as a single purpose platforming challenge portion of this map.

Huh. I am yet to put together a decent bell tower without mesh issues. So, if no AI goes to that area it doesn't matter? Will it still validate and publish with a bad mesh?

I like the look of the snow and ice. Are the mountains in background in your first pic the Vista mountains? I hope they fix that and the snow in their next patch. As for the bad navmash, I am pretty sure you can still published it.

Hey Manlius10A, another awesome looking map. Love the sound of the story and the platforming aspect of the map.

Any chance of getting a video playthrough of this?

Overall though, looks great and make sure to keep up the good work!

The uploaded images didn't do a lot for me so I wasn't sure what to expect.

To my surprise the map is a good size with several routes, I didn't notice on my 1st play through that there is a path going under the waterfall, there is also the main central path and a lower one - Eventually I guess you have to use the tower to progress - I didn't go all the way through the cave yet so will do that on my next run.

I like the broken bridge where you can use a zipline or take the jump - also the animals work really well although by hunting skills were poor, on my first go I got some meat and threw it near enemy soldiers then ran past as they were attacked by a bear (love the way we can do that in custom maps - using the bait)

Things were spread out enough that the level wasn't too intense, also the way you end up using the tower and then the grappling hook was great and the rock jumps I thought was a nice touch that fit with the map.

Really good map that I will play some more.

This image below is from a map I found while browsing.
The map itself wasn't that great IMO but I liked the way the creator used the items to create a frozen lake type effect - something some of us can think over if we do another snow themed map.

Champ, thanks for your detailed comments on the map and the video play through. I do intend to develop my own video when I get an opportunity, as well. I would love to make a frozen lake as you photographed above, but that would totally sink my object budget. I dream that Ubisoft will push up the project budget on current gen consoles.

Most of all, I really appreciate everyone's praises! Thank you!

Looks to be a fun map! I'll give it a try sometime this week. I really don't like the low total map object percentage. I'm on my 4th map making and I can't do what I envisioned. I'm not even close to what I want to do and I'm already at 94%.
As soon as you start dealing with making caves or using the big boulders you run out of object space very fast!
I assume doing a half frozen lake like above that you would run out of space real fast also.
