Smooth on ps4, constant frame skipping, stutter on pc

So i got it on my pc, hd 6950 2gb, i5 2400, 3.8ghz, ssd, 8 gb ram, medium settings, sparse vsync to make sure frame rate never goes below , and the best way i can descride fc4 is a wonky, jerking, stuttering mess, they improved the streaming stutter, but the movement stutter made it unplayable, latest driver and all, so in the end i got on my ps4 and its so smooth not one stutter, i just wonder whats the big difference, if i lock pc to 30 fps youd think performence be the same, i only ever really have problems with ubisoft games on pc, i love there games but i despise them as devs, i really do.

Oh and another thing that makes me sick is nvidia and ****ty graphic features that no one cares about and make game look worse sumtimes, hey nvidia why not just ask ubi to make games work smooth on pc instead, you notice in there tweaking guides they never mention how broke this pos pc game is, why not ask ubi to test the game on pc and try make it run properly.

Your stupidity blew my mind. It isn't nVidia's fault that devs implemented gameworks features in broken state. nVidia has NOTHING to do with the garbage devs made. Try to think before you say b******t.

Do people really have all that much throw away money at their disposal? am I the only poor sap here!

UBI has not been able to make a decent port to PC game since ghost recon Advance Warfare (2005) and yet, people here still buy products hoping that this time around the game will work.

Now that right there, is the definition of insanity.

No you fking dumb little c´unt, nvidia are so cocerned with getting there exclusive features in the game rather than getting them to make it smooth and run rite. They bang on about how they work together, then why not make the game run properly on pc.

I'm reluctant to get caught up in this tit for tat trash talk fest, but here goes.

    1. Sparse Vsync is really adaptive vsync, and an Nvidia thing, not AMD. Hell, I have a 7970 that's quite a bit more powerful than a 6950 and I don't use ANY Vsync.

    2. Make sure you're patched to 1.6 plus the 39MB hotfix that fixes the memory leak. Check for 1.6 verification in the lower left of the intro screen,. Check for hotfix verification via Task Manager. It should stay below 4GB RAM usage now.

    3. Make sure you're using the new Cat 14.12 Omega driver, which improves texture streaming.

    4. Having only 2GB VRAM and 8GB RAM makes you more susceptible to stutter, esp since PCs still have no unified memory like consoles do. The PS4 further adds a low level API via GNM, another thing PC doesn't have yet.

    5. Prioritize Textures, Terrain, and Environment for best Image Quality, and set the rest a notch down.

Basically today's ultra big texture load games require PC components that have plenty overhead due to the aforementioned shortcomings, poor engine coding, poor porting, and bias toward the unified memory of consoles.

I agree on Ubi games in particular having great concepts on the creative end and terrible coding, but you're also on a pretty old GPU, which doesn't help.

    @leroy12morg and @Frag_Maniac

I just want to politely point out that sparse vsync is actually capping the fps to 30fps, the same you could do in FC3 just this time its got a different label. However you need to make 1 more step to make the game "smooth' as just using the ingame sparse vsync stillresults in choppy movement. You also have to use nVidia Inspector if your running nVidia equipment, then load up FC4's profile and choose vsync "1/2 refresh rate" (assuming your monitor is running at 60hz). Doing this will result in smooth gameplay. sparse vsync is only effective in fullscreen mode.

Actually you are only partially correct. Sparse vsync is vsync at HALF your refresh rate. So if your refresh rate is 60 sparse vsync makes it 30. If you play at 120hz like myself, sparse vsync locks you in at 60fps vsync. Also any settings you apply in Nvidia Inspector OVERRIDES any in-game settings you have applied. So by chooseing 1/2 refresh vsync in inspector you are effectively voiding the sparse setting ingame which is the same thing. You could turn vsync off ingame for the same result as long as inspector vsync is enabled. What I found gave me the smoothest gameplay was to actually put a frame cap of 60fps via nvidia inspector and using ingame sparse vsync. This locked me at a smooth 60 fps in game. So if your goal is smooth 30fps (and your system can handle it) Cap to 30fps via inspector and use sparse vsync in game.

Enough with your stupid assertions of unified memory...

In other News! XBOX ONE IMPROVES ESRAM DYING LIGHT 30FPS ON BOTH CONSOLES

Yes WOW 30FPS oh my GOD! 30FPS and it has unified memory on Xbox ONE and PS4!!! WOW truly amazing next gen!!

Us PC Gamers will just have to play the game at 60FPS or greater while you pretend to know anything about game development.

You must be mentally deficient if you don't know by now that lack of unified memory on PC is one of it's primary latency problems and among the biggest hurdles to overcome going forward as games get larger and larger texture files to load in and out of memory constantly.

I'll continue to make assertions, as I know how to. You on the other hand are just being an a$$, and a dumb one at that.
