I assume you must be waiting for an answer on your crash dilema, so I will give you what I know. There are tons of threads about crashing games and people talking about what they did about it. It is a given that it occurs much more frequently with the PC versions than the console versions.
I would try verifying the game files with UPLAY. It may be some are corrupted and giving you bad play.

The game on PC is full of bugs and the consoles do much better. I have had grey screens with audio and no video and messages of "far cry 4 has stopped working" and had the game shut down many times. But with all the useful suggestion for modifying the game files, etc. I must say, i have not had any problems for the last 100 hours of game play. I feel if it's not broke dont fix it,so I am still using version 1.4 and have no experience with 1.5 or 1.6.
Stuttering: Change the zeros to a 1 like this ( DisableLoadingMip0="1" GPUMaxBufferedFrames="1" ) go to start > documents > my games > FarCry 4 >large numbered file> then gamerprofile> edit make changes and save
Wont load or black screen ect. Start - Control panel - System - System - Device manager - remove HID stuff other than USB
HID= human interface device+
The game for many doesnt like console controllers plugged in. It likes larger amounts of memory, like say 16 GB ( I am running 8 GB with no problems on lower graphics settings). It does not like SLI or multiple GPU's (i have an AMD 7850 - 2GB). FC4 has a hard time rendering the large amount of graphic information and that may cause a crash, to my mind. So they lowered the distant graphic rendering with the latest patch to try to cure that.
You can download fraps and have a frames per second counter on screen while playing. Do that, and change your settings for video and all the advanced settings one by one and see the difference. Anything that boosts your framerate will help you. If the the quality suffers alot and you only get a minor boost change it back to suit your taste. I found it made a big difference for my gameplay (around 40 FPS on low)
hope that helps you get it going.
