Personal thoughts on the Map editor and the direction it could it going.

Personal Thoughts on the map editor and the direction it could BE going.

I think it is great to be able to make single player maps on the editor. Also to include vehicles, animals and AI. Ubisoft always seems to get so close to getting it right. But to leave out the Multiplayer mode was very disappointing.

I am sure a lot of the map editors from the older series of FC are disappointed in the direction the map editor has gone. No MP maps

Ubisoft wants to make the most amount of money and what company doesn't. Games costs a lot of money to produce. Two or three bad games can bankrupt a company. So they put a lot of effort in the campaign and in putting AI, vehicles , and other things in the editor.

This just my personal thoughts on it. I don't think the older generation xbox360 or PS3 could handle a multiplayer map with all the other things going on in the map. One of reasons why I quit making maps on FC3 was how the lobby system would crash or it was almost impossible to join friends maps on the xbox360.

The map editors use to be a large group(FCIP,FC2) who are now disappearing from FC. But FC single player campaign has become very successful. Great for Ubisoft not so good for the past editors.

I wish Ubisoft would make a stand alone editor with all the great things from all the far cry editions, single, multiplayer, race, maze and even predator maps with a better lobby system on the newer gaming systems. If Ubisoft promoted it right I think it would be very successful. Look at minecraft. On FC3 and FC4 they hardly promoted it. In fact they hid the info on FC4.

I would like to know what other editors think from the past and people who are just getting into it. Thanks for reading my thoughts on this.

they did say at the release ( http://far-cry.ubi.com/en-us/news/ne...m:148-76770-32 ) that coop would be added, a progress update or assurance from them would be nice to have. Even just to know they have not dropped coop from their list of TODOs

Is this coop even out and what is it?.. Basically all I was trying to say is Ubisoft is betting on their single player campaign. Which seems to be very popular and making them money, and not spending time or money to make a robust map editor. The group of editors are a lot smaller and getting smaller all the time .. Which is their fault. No promotions and it is kept a secret until the game is out. Plus the decision on the editor itself.
To satisfy all groups they should just separate the two(campaign, map editor) and put some major effort in the editor to include all the things the editors would want. And possibly put a lite editor version in the campaign to promote the stand alone editor. This would put some extra cash in their pockets and satisfy the map editors plus bring in New editors.
I would just buy the stand alone editor and so would so many of my friends who skipped FC4 and I lot of people would buy both.

They left money on the table and they don't even Know it. I think a stand alone editor with a combination of all the best things (lobby system, multiplayer maps, single player, escape, updated graphics, etc.) from the FC series could easily sale for 29 dollars. Maybe more depending on the depth of the editor. Any thoughts from anybody?
If nobody answers I guess this is a bad ideal and ubisoft is making the correct decision to seemingly fade out the editor, because everybody I talk to who use to make maps are not buying ubisoft games....but they said if the editor had just a better lobby system and multiplayer map they would buy it in a second. Not trying to complain about, just trying to use some common sense..
