I'm stuck at the part 'Death From Above' where I've to use the wingsuit for navigation thru a narrow passage. I'm now in my 40 attempts and still smashed against the cliff. I'm a senior with slight eyesight problem and is facing difficulty in using the controls (keyboard or controller). Moreover, my reflex is not as good as the younger players. Why can't the developer put in effort to create a senior friendly game.
I really enjoy the game up to the part I'm stuck. Giving it up and playing DAI whcih is much senior friendly.
I hear you, Greeny. I hesitate to call myself "senior," but I'm probably old enough to be the father of any of the developers! I'm not fast enough for running and gunning, and my eyesight is awful. I've had a lot of trouble with that mission, too. However -- I made it. I have a couple of suggestions that might help.
1) Use a controller. If you have one like a Logitech F310, use the mode switch to convert the four-way switch (the flattish circular one with the arrows on it, near the joystick-style handles) as the direction controller. It doesn't seem as tweaky as the regular joystick.
2) Get your display as responsive as possible. Set your graphic quality to low. Consider using the Task Manager to kill processes you won't need.
POTENTIAL SPOILER AHEAD. (You've been warned!)
Right after you pass the second bridge, veer left past the first spire you see and veer to the left at the next honking big massif. It looks like there's no room, but there's more there than on the right side. Once you see a keyhole opening in front of you, you've gotten past the worst of it. There is one more outcropping waiting to wreck you just before you get through the opening.
Keep all the altitude you can and try to limit your airspeed.
Good luck! If one overaged kid can do it, so can another.
I'm 57 and although I did crash once or twice my first time down, I find it's more a thing of knowing the route you have to take and if on KB, tapping vs holding the keys down. You don't need to tap frantically, just a subtle tap,..tap,...tap, here and there. Holding them down will cause the suit to cut a harder curve that takes longer to correct if you shoot too far one way.
Also, pro tip, hold W most of the way down and you will stay pretty high up and avoid getting caught down in the canyon where there's less room to dodge the rocks. Just be ready a ways past the chopper and right bend after it to lower your altitude a bit for what's up ahead.
Good luck, and Merry Christmas, Happy Hanuka, yada, yada, yada. No one deserves to be miserable on the holidays.
Hmm .. you guys are much younger than this old soldierOriginally Posted by Frag_Maniac Go to original post. 67 with more good gaming years to go. Welcome to the club mates.
Seriously I have a much slower reflex as my arms and eyes are not a normal level. Will try out the advices given here and see if I can get pass this stage. It will be waste if I give this up and move over to DAI.
Merry Christmas to you and all the home. Enjoy the holidays.
Well, as soon as you start thinking "senior", you've decided to start surrendering to some degree.
I'm 56 now, but I tend to think of things like my father and grandfather did, there is no surrender, and you are only as old as you allow yourself to feel.
Try using rhythmic tapping of the A and D keys for banking (instead of holding for any amount of time), I believe this prevents the keyboard auto-repeat from kicking in and providing WAY too much correction. You should be able to master it after a while.
Good luck, and do yourself a favor, drop the "senior" thinking, it can't possibly enhance your life, while embracing your "youth" absolutely can!
DAS
I can make a video if anyone likes to prove you can stay so high you can fly above that chopper without even drawing a detection indicator.
And greeny, you may be ten yrs older than me, but I tend to think your reflexes can't be THAT bad if you made it through the game to that point. There's a fair bit of hardcore shooting and predator fending in the game that require reflexes too.
Good luck, don't hit the rum too hard on the holidays. LOL
Oh great, I thought that 3rd Shangri-La mission was bad. Flying and trying to hit those darned updraft areas just to get higher and not hit those pillars. All I can say is, be prepared to die a lot when using a keyboard. It CAN be done however frustrating as it is.
It is refreshing to see quite a few relative oldsters here. I'm 59 and I'm having the time of my life with this game. And it's not eyesight that's the problem, but reflexes and all or nothing input keyboard controls. Steering with the mouse would have been better. But I still prefer the keyboard and mouse over a controller. Makes using the bow and arrow and sniper rifle far more deadly.
