Far Cry 3:
* Less cohesive story, but more interesting character development and more colorful characters (although there ARE several FC4 characters which are unique/interesting as well)
* "Prettier" landscape (this is VERY subjective, some people find Kyrat and the new DX11 effects much nicer. I prefer the tropical setting)
* Faster and more stable frame rates. Less"next gen" effects (fur, godrays, soft shadows) ... when they work (and if you have a powerful enough GPU/CPU)
Far Cry 4
* Menu system is cleaner and more stable (FC3 would occasionally crash in the the shop menu while selling or just swapping screens)
* More menu/HUD options. More bugs and less stable game overall (possibly changing with future patches)
* More animals, vehicles and weapons however a good 70%-80%+ are remade versions of existing FC3 ones.
* More side quests and collectible items. More "busy work" which makes for a longer open world experience. Also makes the game feel more "cluttered" compared to FC3. It's hard to stay on task as every 20m-30m a new "shiny" pops up on your minimap.
* Single player CO-OP, but only 2 people total vs FC3's 4 person CO-OP which could NOT be played in the single player world (and was a linear set of missions separate from the single player experience)
* More robust map editor, but cannot make multiplayer maps just single player "mission style" maps.
