There was a thread already made on this.
The main thing you need to do is make SURE as soon as he goes into that bluish animation where he puts his head up and spawns ground troops, that you immediately run to the other side of the battle area as SOON as he starts that animation. Reason being every time the troops spawn, they spawn right near where you were when his spawn animation started.
This way you can distance yourself far enough from the ground troops so they will only fire arrows and not rush you, as they are scripted to use arrows from long distances. You can avoid distant arrows easily by just running to one side and back to the other on that side of the battle area. Just keep doing that to avoid arrows and fire balls, taking peeks at the bird to see where he throws the flames.
Then he'll come to you for a close up shot to aim at his mouth as the hint tells you. Rinse and repeat. My last time on Normal I never had to attack any ground troops or dogs with bow, takedown, or tiger, and I never took enough damage to even deplete one health bar, so I never had to use that slow as hell healing animation. The whole battle was over in less than 3 min.
OMG, if I hear one more person BRAG about how good he is, I'm going to throw up. My last normal I never had to attack any ground troops or dogs or tiger, except, if this so called braggert really played the game, he would know the tiger is on his side, so why would he brag about not taking the tiger down, and never took enough damage to even deplete one health bar, the whole battle was over in 3 minutes, pull the other one.Originally Posted by Frag_Maniac Go to original post
I have just spent an hour trying to fly through the columns of spiral rock formations, down, back up, under the horizontal rock, back up and the above took only 3 mins to complete the battle, yeh, prove it. I can tell fibbers too, but I'd rather play the game as it was intended, without cheating
Have you watched the youtube walkthru's?Originally Posted by drloua Go to original post
They are informative in some ways.
I dont think there is any easy way to defeat big bird.
What is required is to get an arrow in his open mouth, which you have obviously done, Then you HAVE TO SUMMON THE TIGER and direct him at the downed bird.
The tiger jumps into the Rakshasa's mouth and you should arrow his open mouth again if possible. The Rakshasa (big bird) spits Kity out.
THen the program works that once you down the him twice, the third time you get him down a cut scene happens and it's over.
If you haven't won and got the cutscene you havent got Tiger into his mouth while he's down twice already and have downed him for the third time. you should also notice after the second time that his skin is like breaking lava with fire coming thru the crinckly skin - its noticeable.
Using the slall time bow power can help with getting the arrows into his open mouth and knowing that the minute he starts spreading his wings RUN FOR IT as he is spawning minions and they will be EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE, and I knife the spawning blue mists as they become demons while i'm running. You can also go into settings on the Esc menu and change the difficulty to easy as that may help, but it doesn't change too much. I find if I am not focusing on downing Bird, Eventually too many demons spawn and then come the scorchers and it's all over for me, whereas If I can get him down ASAP i can win it. And FYI it seems the first couple of arrows in the mouth does not bring him down. It seems the program makes you work a bit for it. If you keep working on it, you'll win.
You know, anyone can use a screen name starting with Sgt, but if you want respect for it, you still have to earn it. Don't act like a A-hole and I won't treat you like one, that's all I'm saying.Originally Posted by SgtCarlMc62 Go to original post
1. I said "I never had to attack any ground troops or dogs with bow, takedown, or tiger", get it? WITH being the one word you seemed to miss. You CAN read can't you?
2. They say right in the onscreen hints you need to "Fly into the wind spire to ascend". Other than that the rather obvious objective markers tell you where to go.
Normally I sympathize and try and help as much as I can when some struggle with games. You and a few others are obviously well below the learning curve and need it, and unlike some, I've never once slammed you for it. I'm not going to pander to or excuse your hostility though, especially when you can't even read a simple sentence as it was intended to be conveyed and are so quick to go on the attack as if you'd been violated somehow.
As I said in my prior post when I first discovered how quickly and easily this boss can be beaten, I WILL make a video of it on Hard. I haven't gotten to that point of the game though yet. I'm playing the rest of the missions for now. Hopefully the mem leak fix they're working on will allow me to do it stutter free if they manage to release it sometime soon.
You clearly don't understand one thing about this boss though, and that is how easy it is to distance yourself from the bird's minions if you just pay attention to when it starts it's spawn attack, and run like hell to avoid them spawning near you. Otherwise you get surrounded and have to take lots of hits and use the tiger and do that slow arse healing. Play it that way if you want, but don't come here crying that it's too hard, because you're only making it hard on yourself.
Hours on the flying, Jeez, give me a break. I don't think games are for you. At least not ones with any kind of challenge.
Your welcome, but please take a moment to describe what methods finally worked for you, so others will know this is not as hard as they make it sound.Originally Posted by drloua Go to original post
I also want to clarify that my above testimonial was mentioned in the other thread about this battle, and is not intended as bragging. If I were bragging I would say it's a HARD battle, but I managed to blah, blah, blah, anyway. In fact I also mentioned before even describing it that it was mnb's observation and advice I followed, about moving far away as soon as the spawn attack starts. So I never even tried to take credit for the tactics used.
Some people just get easily angered when they reach a point where they feel there's nothing else they can do to get past a part of a game they're struggling with, and it can often keep them from seeing little details that can make it WAY easier. ALL sp gameplay is nothing but scripted AI though, and barring games that have enemy AI designed for coop play like L4D and PayDay, most have AI weaknesses that a savvy solo player can spot and exploit.
Normally if I spend enough time playing a game I can spot those weaknesses. This time I looked for comparative tactics after beating it myself on Easy and found mnb's input to be invaluable, which made beating it on Normal easier than on Easy. All I did was follow his lead. The age I'm at now (mid 50s), I get a bit impatient myself, esp if the game has performance issues like this one does. The forum chat helps a lot though. Most of the time someone has found a way that you may have missed.
