Thanks for all the responses! The more I think about it the more the lag explanation makes sense. It definitely happens more regularly to me when I'm racing a ghost, either in a showdown or leaderboard ghost. I'll try moving the buttons a little bit further apart to see if that helps at all. I have no calouses on my thumbs so rule that out. I'm really hoping when this new update hits that it'll sort all these issues out. I think lag has been a problem for a long time and it's sort of come to a head with the bunker. Perhaps in a few days this will be a non-issue. Fingers crossed.

for me its definitely not a screen issue. i dont even have to move my fingers to experience the problem. i could be holding down the button and it just stops. I actually make a concerted effort to make sure not to hold and release as often as i can to prevent runs from getting destroyed because of it happening.

This was my problem at first, I couldn't figure out whether it was a hardware problem or a software issue. Since it hasn't happened at any other point with any other app I have to assume it's this software. I get it a lot when I'm accelerating and then I tap the lean button and the acceleration dies. It's like the lean cancels the acceleration even though I'm still pressing the button. This does sound like the game struggles to deal with multiple inputs sometimes.

Yeap, that's me - not accelerating at the start, engine stopping mid-track, when I accelerate and lean at the start, the engine stops, immediate flips mid-track.
The only answer I keep on hearing is "wipe your screen". I've actually come up with a second part to that, which is "go wash your hands thoroughly with soap and wipe them dry".
    Helps.

They should include that in their bundles offers!
I became pissed of them, to be honest.

Guaranteed rage every time. What I do to keep it in check:
    - I kill/restart the app whenever this occurs. This almost always seems to help. (but het, we are havig to restart this app WAY to often lately for many things)
    - I have moved the 2 buttons on each side slightly farther apart than before, and retrained myself to insure its not me. Overall, I think this was worth the effort.

Another thing; do any of you have a hardened callous on your thumb from the acceleration button? I do, and I think it might affect the touch sensitivity. Every couple of weeks I have to sand it down...
This has happened me too many times also... and it is killing me also!

I have that hardened thumb also... didn't had it before trials... It effects for sure!
and other thing related to humidity, here is quite dry at winter, sot my fingers do dry up a bit, and i need to moisture them every now and then to get touch sensitivity back.

This is obviously a known issue to us, and something we've invested countless dev hours in trying to fix. The problem is that we have no control over this in the end, it's a OS/Hardware issue with the iPhone unfortunately.

The issue is with the very bottom of the screen, if you press your thumb so that it is touching the screen but also somewhat off the screen on the bottom, then there is a chance that the next press with your other thumb will send a "cancel all input" command to the OS. There is no way we can stop this, and it's something you can reproduce with other games out there. It is most common on the 5 series of iPhones.

It is a frustrating bug but we just can't do anything about it, and the very skill based nature of Frontier makes the issue stand out (or even be noticed for the first time).

What I have done to make this issue almost go away entirely for me is to modify my control location to move them up slightly on the screen, this way I have a much less likely chance of pressing the very bottom of the touchable area. This is the biggest reason we actually included the control modification feature in the first place.

Hope that will help you out, or at least knowing the root cause can help you possibly avoid doing it on accident.

Thank you so much for the reply Justin! Even just knowing what's causing the issue is a massive help, and it's always nice to get a little dev-to-community interaction, means a lot. I've modified my button positions so they are higher up and am training myself to get used to them. Good to know its not a problem with Trials Frontier and that you guys have tried to work around the hardware/OS issues. Sorry for the rant, I've honestly never experienced this with any other app so I thought it had to be trials. My bad.
