I know this game has seen its fair share of issues recently but this one has been going on for a while now. It never really bothered me because you could just restart the level at no cost. However, with the introduction of showdowns and the showdown/golden ticket scheme this problem has become more of an issue, to the point that I'm making this post.

I know at least one other person has had this problem because they made a post in the PvP update sticky topic, so I assume if it's not just me then perhaps there's more than two people. What I'm referring to is the loss of control of the bike that occurs spasmodically (always wanted to use that word ) during a track. It most commonly occurs at the start of the level when trying to accelerate. I usually hold the accelerate button down well before the track starts so I accelerate immediately. I've also tried pressing the accelerate button JUST before the track begins, and tapping it repeatedly before the track starts with no luck. Probably 8/10 times these methods work fine, but every so often, and sometimes more often than that, the game won't register that I'm touching the button. This essentially ruins the run of the track as soon as it starts. If this happened once in 100 runs I wouldn't mind, but I've had it happen 4 or even 5 times in a row before. Anyone can tell you that that's pretty much all of the showdown tickets you get before they have to recharge.

The problem can also occur during a track, which is perhaps more frustrating when you're on track to beat someone and the controls give out. During the track I've also experienced the lean buttons not working, or the bike leaning the wrong way, or leaning when I'm not pressing a lean button.

This really is unacceptable for a game that's been out for months. I think most, if not all, would agree that the controls are what you would call an 'key aspect' of the game. It's the kind of aspect that really needs to be perfect before a game is released, because if it isn't the game can become EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. Now I can have a guess at what you might be thinking, "his fingers are so fat he's hitting the accelerate and reverse buttons at once and confusing the game", but my fingers are not fat; "he's too focused on what's happening with the bike to notice that his fingers have drifted away from the correct button and he's just tapping the screen or the wrong button", how could I miss before the race has begun? And during the race when it goes pear shaped I look at the button and press it and it still doesn't work.

It should be noted that I've never has this problem with any other game, app or when using my phone (iPhone 5S) in general. Maybe there are only a handful of people with this issue, but it's gotten to the point where it's really getting on my tits (I don't really have tits, but if I did this problem would be all over them), hence this rant. I just lost 5 showdown tickets because of this, again. If anyone else out there has had this problem and was able to fix it it would just make my day to hear from you. If not, then I'd love to hear from a dev if there's a workaround, this would also make my day. If not then I'd love for something to be done about this because this is not 'cool beans'.

By the way I do think this game is brilliant 99% of the time. As always it's a couple of small issues that tarnish the blinding shine of this diamond of a game.

tl:dr

Controls be a mess yo', an intermittent mess. The accelerator doesn't work off the start line sometimes, which is the biggest offender for ruining my runs. Any suggestions for a fix? Anything in the settings I'm missing?

P.S. I really hope it's not something in my phone settings or something like that, it would be really anticlimactic after this post.....

I personally have never had this problem, but I can see how it can be a serious problem. The only thing I have had is every once in a while, one of the buttons (usually the lean left or right) will magically press itself and I will flip over and crash. I know it's not my finger touching it! I have checked many times when it happens where my finger is. I'm wondering if it's an issue with our phone screens?

ive always had this problem sporadically on my IOS account. I hate it.

people will tell you to clean your device screen but that is definitely not my problem.

Yeah I've had that. Usually happens when I'm in the air and just before I hit the ground the bike will violently swing upside down I usually wipe my phone screen if it happens to make sure it's clean but it still happens. That's all I could think to do to try and sort the issue out. I don't use a screen protector either, it's all straight from thumb to phone.

On one hand in glad it's not just me, on the other hand I'm sorry to hear you're having the same problems

It also happens a lot when I press the accelerate button and then press a lean button While the accelerator is held down. It might be something to do with lag which is being addressed in the next update (I hope). But this problem has been about since I downloaded the game.

It happens to me from time to time. However, it MIGHT, might be your button setup.

You can move the control buttons around. For me, I had to move tilt buttons (bottom left) slightly apart, slight up and slightly to the right. I noticed my thumb always hits the TOP of the button. Once I moved it up, that seemed to help.

HOWEVER, every so often I will be on the button and it won't respond. Rare, but happens.

Then again, I can't play the damn game since the Bunker won't connect to anything!

I've had the no-acceleration issue before, along with erratic response from the rotation buttons. Quite a few times I remember seeing my bike not start going out of the gate. . .or stop accelerating in the middle of the track....and I look down and saw my finger pressed dead-center on the button. Guaranteed rage every time. What I do to keep it in check:
- I kill/restart the app whenever this occurs. This almost always seems to help. (but het, we are havig to restart this app WAY to often lately for many things)
- I have moved the 2 buttons on each side slightly farther apart than before, and retrained myself to insure its not me. Overall, I think this was worth the effort.

Another thing; do any of you have a hardened callous on your thumb from the acceleration button? I do, and I think it might affect the touch sensitivity. Every couple of weeks I have to sand it down...

Good to see this happening to others. Not good in a way that it ruins all of your races, but that there should be some explanation for this. I was gonna blame static charge first, because my Nexus seems to act up when I'm using it on bed without holding it with my hand, but often when the button paralysis occurs, it seems to help that I put my tablet to stand by and then back on.

i think its a connectivity / lag issue. usually if i restart my game it clears up for a while. ive never been sure if its just a problem that i have because my phone is so old. i have the og iphone 4

I get this pretty regularly. When I'm just improving times or whatever it doesn't really bother me, but in a showdown in can mean the difference between a win or lose.
