[PC] Kantham's workshop (Challenging Airborne maps)

This content is for the PC platform.

Here are some maps I've been working on. I'm still tweaking and balancing the general concept for these maps so they're currently not published. I will be using a specific tag code so it should be easy to find them from the in-game browser. And while at it, please fix the Vistas not showing in the actual game! Or Editor viewports!

    DOWNLOAD

    Soon.(TM)

    GAMEPLAY

Assault, Sky-drop player spawn, 30 enemies, challenging maps. 3 Health bars, Syringes and small ammo on every weapon emplacement, stealth pistol loadout, specific AI count. Enemies spawning slightly out of bounds, central outpost design with Hunter+Black eagle. Hunter will counter all baits the player throws in the environment. 1 Rhino out of bounds the player can drag into enemy camp (lots of fun). 1 Gyro copter with D2 on roofs for quick game finishers. Guard snipers on last wave for powerful snipers..

You get the idea. I want to tweak this as much as possible so every playthrough is challenging and fun.

Hey Kantham, these maps look awesome and they certainly sound quite challenging!

Are you able to provide a video showing how the maps work? Additionally, can you confirm which platform this map appears on?

    Thanks.

    Hi Jax,

Platform is in the summary but I'll make it clearer.

I'll post some videos once the gameplay is final.

Hey Kantham. The map looks really well done, since you are on PC, it would be nice to see more custom buildings because there is no object limit. One thing I have mentioned in almost every map post is that almost everybody has done a town, would be nice if people attempted something more themed. Overall though, besides the lack of a cooler theme, your map looks very polished and the layout is well done. Good job!

    Hey TheSlimReeper,

    Thanks.

By more custom buildings, are you referring to stacking walls on top of each other to create what may resemble building facades to some degree? Or adding more details to pre-existing buildings? Not sure what you mean by more themed either. If everyone is doing towns then I guess this means I'm on the right path!

On a serious note, I'll most probably do towns for other level as long as they respect my gameplay code that I'm following.

One thing for sure - you really got that "thing" for making maps. From screenshots I infer that you are very meticulous mapmaker. Definitely one of the most polished maps in the whole map making community. As for gameplay - well, it sounds really good. I'm pretty sick of all that maps with OP guns, non logic props placement, and basically no real experience, both for "eyes" and gameplay.
I'm on PC, so as soon you publish them, I'll definitely give a try.

    Cheers.

    Nice!

I do have experiences with level design, and I'm glad someone picked it up!

I was hopping I wasn't the only one who got sick of the illogical placements or starter loadouts, for instance the stealth sniper loadout gives you the most powerful sniper in the game with a silencer attachment, it is absolutely powerful and not to joke with. Since it's not enough they provided you with something like like 4 C4 and proxy mines! I also understand not everyone is at the same spot on the difficulty curve.

Yesterday, I spent a good deal of the evening trying to find a solution to include top tier weapons like the .700 Nitro, ACE, Vector and Barret sniper in a way that IF you managed to acquire one, you can't acquire the others. The solution so far is to include utility poles with tiny platforms. Landing seems to be a 40% success rate for me so far but I'm not the most talented paratroop. You have higher chances of getting spotted and a failed landing cost you some health, so far so good.

I also replaced the D2 with a grenade launcher for the Gyro roof landpad, and it seems pretty fair and fun, makes you want to use it more, but still be careful with rocket troops.

I will include this technique (among the others) for all the levels I'll be making.
