FARCRY 4 BEST GAME SINCE EARLY 90's - WELL DONE

I never do this, but I feel the game is that good that I felt compelled to say thank you to the game designers for Farcry 4. This game blew me away, from the open landscape world, to the range of vehicles and abilities like flying suit or the missions that threw different things into the mix like being stoned and tripping. The added animals made for some hair raising moments and the general feel of the game was just brilliant. Even some topless woman thrown into the mix, the game kept me interested from start to finish. As near to perfection as I think possible (Or allowed) in modern games. This game blows away the competition, I even tried Dragon Age: Inquisition recently, lasted 5 minutes before I threw it into the bin, not my type of game at all.
Well done again, and thank you to everyone who made this latest Farcry4 a reality. I'm looking forward to Farcry 5 now, cant begin to imagine the new adventures to be thought up by your team of wizards.

Agreed, nice to see Ubisoft getting their kudos for this among a sea of moaners and complainers!

FC2 is still my favourite for a number of reasons but the amount of work put into FC4 is incredible. The animals are so realistic and the way they interact with each other is a joy to see.

    Agreed

I have to agree with you. After talking with a couple of fellow gamers when I first switched to my PS4 about 2 months ago, they explained to me their problems with Ubisoft. I must admit I was very dissapointed with Black Flag, but not enough to deter me from buying FC4. This is my first FC game and I wish that I had spent more time playing the previous ones. This is by far my favorite game since borderlands. (I'm sorry but borderlands will always be my favorite series for multiple reasons) but FC4 is a very very close second. I have put over 100 hours into this game and am still not bored.

The fact is, this is the first UBI game that is giving me issues, none of their previous games gave me any...
Ignoring the problems that I am having with his game. It still could have been even better in the game play department than what it is right now... But sitll this game is literally awesome...

I've said ever since it was voted Shooter of the Year that it solidly deserves it.

I'm finally playing on patch 1.5 now too, so I'm more objectionable about overall performance. Seems to have somewhat smoothed it out. It doesn't do quite as well as Unity with the new AMD Omega driver, frames still drop noticeably in some places, and I still have to employ the DisableLoadingMipo=1 command to disable mip maps or the performance is sketchy, but with the same settings and file tweaks I used before, it doesn't hitch as much. The RAM usage with 1.5 is quite high as has been said, but I'm not sure it really ramps up continuously as some have suggested via their "memory leak" comments. I saw it rise to 7GB out of the 8GB I have, which IS quite high, then level off. After I exited game I had 6GB free RAM too. Still though, I would advise 12-16GB RAM for this game if you want to use max or anywhere near max settings.

If I could say one thing about Far Cry 4, it's that it's an immersive, fun, beautiful game, plagued by a few standout glaring problems that keep it from being WAY better than it is.

    1. The Eagle AI is WAY overkill. I need not even describe this in detail, as everyone knows
    2. Mip mapping is VERY poorly optimized
    3. Sim fur is completely UNoptimized

Number 2 I suspect is Ubi's lack of being able to make their engine stream textures efficiently, because it's impact is mostly noticeable when large texture files are being loaded. Number 3 seems to be mostly on Nvidia not being able to optimize Hairwoks very well, even on their own hardware.

The Half-life series is no longer my favourite, Far Cry 3 and 4 are. I have around 450 hours on FC3, and I'm pretty sure it won't take long to top that on FC4. There's a lot more to do this time, different choices, a TON of random events happening everywhere, annoying eagles (now I always get them before they get me, shotgun to the... eh, beak), and the selection of guns and the way they work is simply fantastic. Some guns are "meh", which makes the good guns even more good, and you have to wait to get them. Even with the Buzzsaw I don't really feel overpowered, the last few outposts and the Royal Fortress would have been VERY hard without it.

Oh, and it's simply a beautiful game. Sometimes I just have to stop and think "God, there are some insanely talented artists behind this". Multiple screenshots have been screenshat (?)

A thread without technical issues, that's nice.

Far Cry 4 is better than FC3, but still lacks the intelligence and immersion of Far Cry 2 - my all time favorite. I can see myself replaying 4 whereas I only played #3 once. Still replaying #2 to get that buzz. I hope they take FC5 back to Africa, or to the Middle East and take out those "fantasy scenes" and timed mashing things. Bring back longer day-night cycles and gun shops. No fast travel between captured outposts. Make us "take a bus" again. Love the buzzer though in #4.

^Far Cry 2's story was not intelligent, it was an insult to the player's intelligence. It also had a lot of bugs and ridiculous gameplay designs, like convoys that just looped around until you destroyed them. The constant search for malaria pills wasn't exactly well received either. The biggest flaw however was the insta respawn checkpoints. Having no predators was a huge let down too, and requested a LOT during production.
