We have isolated most of the issues being reported and are working to fix them. Right now is a really hard time to get updates out (especially on iOS), but we are investigating the possibilities of a hot fix for these issues. I agree, it is a bummer to ship an awesome new feature and have it spoiled for some by bugs, but we are working on a very complex mobile game so these things can happen.
Regarding georgri's questions:
We attempt to match opponents of the same rank always. If this fails after a very short time limit we start to expand out search to +-1. It would be possible for a #25 to face a #2 theoretically, but this will most certainly not happen now that the system is so full of diversely ranked players.
Here is how stars/rank works:
Rank 25-20 = cannot lose stars or ranks
Rank 20-15 = can lose stars but not ranks
Rank 15-1 = can lose both stars and ranks.
How many are expected to make it? Good question! One of the great things about this type of ranking system is that it is not entirely dependent on the performance of the entire population, especially considering the release valve which is the Legends Leaderboard. Factor in the bonus star system (which gives you a better than 0-sum game if you have a 50/50 win/loss ratio), and there is a potential for quite a large portion of players to reach the Legends Leaderboard, especially with a longer season like we have going at the moment.

Thanks for the fast reply ooswannyooIt's good to know that I can't be demoted, the seasonal rewards are guaranteed. So the legends leaderboard is more of a pride reward as opposed to a digital reward like blueprint pieces. I have also noticed a few issues with the game crashing or freezing, but nothing that's damaged my experience with Frontier too much.
Will there be any Christmas orientated content? Perhaps just a couple of festive bike skins on the loot wheel? I was talking to ghostIALIAS the other day and he had the idea of a sleigh paint job for the phantom, which seems like a really good idea. Just putting it out there

So basically here's what has to happen....
The best players make #1 say within the next 20 days. Then they stop playing so the rest of us can move to #1, because if they don't play then they won't be matched up.

It's nice to know a large portion of players will be able to make it!
The algorithm of matching players also makes perfect sense. And explains why timohthey had to wait so long for matching.
A couple of questions bothering me atm:
- Do the chips replenish faster on higher ranks?
- What is the function (decreasing with time) for the rate of replenishing chips? I guess, it should be somewhat t/log(t).
