Will be keeping this first post updated with info, tips, strategy, FAQ, etc on how to play Zudinas Bunker effectively. Anyone who sees info that they feel belongs here... feel free to post.
Sorry if this is unorganized at the moment... its mostly a collection of facts.
Overview
Zudinas Bunker is Trials Frontiers version of asynchronous PvP; one-on-one "showdowns" (ie matches) against ranked opponents; fastest times on 2 out of 3 tracks over a 24-hour period wins. You are given 3 "free" showdowns at the start (see below for details).
Ze Bunker Economy (earning/spending Tickets and Chips)
The Bunker does not use Gems, Coins, or even fuel! Its all based on Golden tickets, chips (and Showdown tickets instead of fuel).
- Starting a Showdown costs 10 Golden Tickets
- You can earn 1 Golden Ticket a day via TV advertisement in the Saloon
- Friends can "gift" you a Golden Ticket every 6 hours. If you accept them within an hour, you get a small cash bonus.
- You can buy Golden Tickets of course (but the need should be small when each friend can give you up to 4 a day)
- You earn "chips" by playing Showdowns. You win more by winning (surprise!) but you still win some when losing.
- Chips can be used to buy special daily prizes shown in the Bunker; to buy parts; and to buy entrance into "The Cave" (200 chips), where presumably we will start getting new tracks.
How a Showdown works
- Choose"New Showdown"' it will cost 10 "Golden Tickets".
- A random opponent is chosen, along with 3 random tracks, and a random bike for each track.
- Any tier bike may be chosen for any tier track.
- Not possible to select specific opponents.
- Unclear yet how important your rank is in opponent selection.
- Player who has the fastest score on 2 out of 3 tracks at the end of 24 hours wins.
- You get a supply of 5 "showdown tickets" initially. Think of these tickets as fuel. One ticket lets you make one run inside that showdown.
- Once you have used a showdown ticket, you will gain a new showdown ticket every 30 minutes (5 max).
- WARNING Once your "showdown tickets" hits zero, if you play a track IT SILENTLY COMES OUT OF YOUR GOLDEN TICKETS!
- On all menus, any time you are about to use a Golden Ticket as a Showdown Ticket, the background of the button you are about to press gets a "starred" background (rays of light from behind the button). Dont select those.
- The person with the fastest time on a given track is considered to currently "own" that track.
- Whenever you "own" or "re-own" a track, you get to spin a Loot Wheel, which will accumulate to a "pot" of winnings (crafting, coins, gems)
- The more the lead changes hands, the larger your pot will grow
- You are given "chips" for every showdown track you "own", on a regular basis (the rate at which you collect chips does seem to drop over time once you "own" the track).
- Upon Winning
- You win the "pot" as well as all your earned chips.
- Immediately start a new Showdown to get a "Win Streak Bonus"
- Win more than two showdowns in a row and you will start earning bonus stars (is that the same as a Win Streak Bonus?)
- Upon Defeat
- You lose half your earned chips when defeated.
- Immediately start a new Showdown to carry over your lost chips
Ranking and the Legend Leaderboard
- You are ranked over the course of a "season"; the current season lasts 53 days.
- Everyone starts at rank 25... you work your way up to rank 1.
- Not clear what it takes to increase rank yet.... but for now keep winning!
- As you move up in rank you gain other benefits:
- You will get rewards (Season Prizes) at each rank; Donkey Blueprints, money, gems, paintjobs, etc.. These Season Rank rewards stack, so you get the prize for that rank, as well as all the previous tiers.
- The higher your Season rank the better rewards on the Showdown Loot Wheel.
Tips
- You better start upgrading those "less important" bikes!
- Get a lot of friends and gift them tickets every 6 hours (it costs YOU no tickets). In return they will gift you back (It pays to have friends!)
- Winning is NOT determined by the size of your huge pile of chips. To win a showdown you must have at least 2 winning tracks.
- Dont waste Golden Tickets for showdown replays! Always keep track of how many showdown tickets are left; when empty always wait 30 minutes for your showdown ticket stash to regenerate.
- On all menus, any time you are about to use a Golden Ticket as a Showdown Ticket, the background of the button you are about to press gets a "starred" background (rays of light from behind the button). Dont select those.
Strategy/Tactics
Strategy #1: Total Ownage
- "Own" all tracks early and as frequently as possible.
- If your opponent gets a track, concentrate on getting it back to increase your chip income.
- Even when you have a lead, continue to improve your track scores using the constant stream of showdown tickets (especially removing any faults).
- Advantages
- Its a simple strategy and you will get a decent amount of chips, money, etc.
- Your opponent may decide its not worth his time to try and beat you for the few chips you let him accumulate.
- Disadvantages
- Your pot of gems/money/etc will stay fairly small because you are not repeatedly taking back tracks from the opponent
- The rate at which you accumulate chips does slow down over time once you "own" a track. Your pile of chips may not grow as much as it woudl if you let your opponent win and then retake back the track to increase your collection rate.
Strategy #2: Back and Forth
(more on this tomorrow; if someone has a better name, let me know)
FAQ
- If I payed for an extra showdown slot, do I keep that permanently or do I have to buy it new every day?
- Very likely all Showdown slots disappear after 24 hours; you wont get to keep them

The difference between showdown tickets and golden tickets can be a little confusing.
Showdown tickets can only be used for a specific showdown match. They regenerate every 30 minutes up to 5, and they cannot be used to start a new showdown.
If you run out of showdown tickets, a golden ticket can be used in its place. However, golden tickets do not regenerate over time, and it seems like a better use for them is to start a new showdown. The more showdowns per day, the more prizes you win. At first you can only have 3 showdowns at a time, 10 golden tickets buys you an extra showdown.
What I don't know is this. If I payed for an extra showdown slot, do I keep that permanently or do I have to buy it new every day?
I've played the Trebuchet with the Armadillo, so it does work the other way around.
One of the strategies is in the messages on the bottom: Keep your wheels on the ground when possible!
From what I'm guessing, the showdown slots that you bought with golden tickets will vanish once the showdown is over. Don't fret, however, you can still get/give a lot of tickets through mass giftings.Originally Posted by Whitechapple Go to original post
Imagine literally everyone at the top, everyone that is rank 1 on the Showdown, just started helping each other get the final things they needed. We'd just see a lot of kindness and generosity from this update if that happened.
It'd just be a large ping-pong session (one of the team-based strategies) of people going back and forth to get better times and building up on the pot with blueprint pieces, paintjobs, and gems.
It looks to me like to rankings work on a TruSkill system where you have to beat progressively better people to get a higher rank and perhaps if you lose you go down a rank. Also, might want to note that a season lasts 54 days, so I don't imagine we'll be seeing any donkey blueprints until February...
Also saw a tip explaining that if you lose the showdown you forfeit half of your chips. So you can still win a bit even if you lose the showdown. Also, the higher your season rank the better the rewards on the loot wheel.
These are just tips I've seen at the bottom of the screen.
So many choices... we dont even know how much we need to move up a rank yet. For the moment, I'd rather not make too many guesses on how ranking works until we know more for sure.Originally Posted by timohthey Go to original post
Thanks. Yeah, I have been printing out the tips given to write in above; will get around to it soon. Keep them coming though, just in case I forget one. Also saw a tip explaining that if you lose the showdown you forfeit half of your chips. So you can still win a bit even if you lose the showdown. The only other thing I can think of is some tactics. If you wait until the end to set some winning times then you only gain half of your opponents coins, so it makes more sense to be winning from the start. However, if theres a special prize that has been earned from the loot wheel, like the soylent paint job that I've seen a few times, then it might be better to set bad times and come strong at the end to secure the paint job. It all depends on what you want more, coins or a special item.
When the dialog box comes up "Retry for one [ticket]?" If the ticket has a star inside you are using a golden ticket. If it doesn't, then it is just a showtime ticket.
Pretty happy with this update cause what I've wanted for so long is something I can actually do without using gas! Good job Redlynx! Worth the wait I think
Very good tip! I'll be adding that.Originally Posted by Whitechapple Go to original post
To be entirely accurate (now that you pointed it out I can see it), it actually occurs on the main screen too; any time you are about to use a Golden Ticket as a Showdown Ticket, the background of the button you are about to press gets a "starred" background (rays of light from behind the button).
