Who Dares Wins (PS4 - Coming soon)

Who Dares Wins - Far Cry 4 map on PS4 (work in progress)
I made the map too difficult and the A.I. are not working as I wanted so I need to look at these animation points to try and slow some down.

This should be published in the next 24 hours but depending on how things work out I might cut off one area where the big tents are as the A.I. left that so there is no point having an empty area doing nothing.

I ended up using infinite ammo to complete the level after taking out almost 20 enemy soldiers and it was still difficult.

    Hey Fallen Champ!

Map looks cool (snow joke....nope no one get it....ok )

I liked it when the elephant got involved, was the map initially intended as a stealth type map, or was it always the plan to blow people up?

All in all, good looking map, I look forward to seeing more!

PS - Some of the enemies looked like members of Team Rocket being blasted away by the elephant!

It started off in a different area and the idea was to climb a rock face and then be all stealthy, things changed and I found a lot of problems with the A.I. leaving areas and charging at me so once you get spotted it alters things a lot.

I have been looking a lot at the A.I. options so might be able to make it less intense, also Mauro Robert from battlemap has been giving over tips on the nav mesh where A.I. can be contained if needed.

Unfortunately I ran out of items to use - The performance meter is in the green but the grid limitation got me (we are only allowed a set number of items per grid) In the past to get around this we would build maps over grid squares so that large areas were split over 4 grids but in reality the area was maybe one full grid square in size.

It is a little disappointing because Dapperhayden and Mauro Robert who visited Montreal both said that the PS4 and XBOX ONE would have a much better allowance than their older consoles PS3 / XB360 (Almost double was the figure)

These new consoles can handle so much more than their current allowance.
Reference the elephant I like a bit of fun and like to try and make a map that will suit multiple play styles which is why there are more weapons at the start.

Thanks for the kind words, I started ripping the map apart in places today so some areas are different now.

Cheers for the feedback so far from the video - I think the map is finished, just need to get it passed validation which I think is a simple delete of the second spawn I placed in the map, I thought I would place in 2 in anticipation for coop but it seems only 1 is allowed as that flags up red.

I left an enemy caged in (Shangri La A.I.) so that is an easy kill but allows the player to go back and explore if they want to kill the demon later, The next map might start in that end main room with the gates open to pass through the portal and continue into a crazy map.

Had some fun games testing this with the animals attacking people once let out of the cages - maybe with coop it might need more A.I. as there is only 28 in this map.

Ok the map is published but oddly the animals don't come out of the cages now when the doors are shot off - very strange.

I have twice had issues with a molotov guy on the tower who decided to hide around the side which could be difficult for anyone new to the map finding where he is - depending on feedback I might have to edit this slightly.

So it's there on PS4 to try if anyone wants to have a go.

All those rocks are gone down that side, they were from when I started the map and had the spawn down below with the idea to grapple up to the map higher up.
Because of the mess where Animals won't come out of the cages when a map is published I had to make some sacrifices which should make the map better IMO.

The tower at the end is gone and in it's place I am putting in an enclosed area with walls - This will have a v2 at the end because unfortunately we can't delete maps from the database, should be done soon - I have more objects now to maybe add in some other areas.

Champ, I was finally able to playtest your map tonight. You nailed the lighting! How you use it to draw the player to points of interest is awesome. I especially like it within the underground sections of the map. I did find it a little difficult to see at first, though. Also, the terrain forming and overall theme of your level are well done, and the map size is just right!

My only criticism is that I found the map to be very difficult (I did refuse to use the elephant, since Ubi_Jax said it was cheating). I don't want to tell you how many times it took me to clear the level. I think the first part of the map is too loaded with enemies. It was the first half of the map that I felt too much AI rush and was overwhelmed. Once I made it past the first half, I struggled but did not die. I think the difficulty of the second half is balanced and representative of what you should yearn for in future maps.

Overall this is an excellent map, and I can't wait to play your future maps!

I didn't say it was cheating! I always encourage people to stomp their enemies to death or blast them away into space
