No prob, I'll mention the arrow prompt to him. I've been watching for mods like a hawk... as a PC player, I cannot stand to see gigantic, low-rez hud crap all over the screen, the hallmark of console ports.Originally Posted by Whitelion1284 Go to original post
I wish devs would take this to heart, I mean how hard can it be to allow PC players to disable/scale HUD elements? I wouldn't mind the HUD if it was out of the way and crisp. But I prefer naked/no HUD to the 800x600 mega HUD we get with the average console port.
Eagles are the headcrabs of Far Cry. All they do is annoy you and distract you from what you were doing.
The attack animation is SO misleading, it's way up in the sky, and suddenly it's in your face. Just when it looks like a good time to shoot, the bloody animation starts.
That brings me to another point, animations take way too long! I have to wait for ages between healing and switching weapons before I'm even allowed to shoot. That is my major annoyance with this game. We're both just standing there, bad guy shooting at me, and I'm just pointing my gun at him, mashing the trigger but nothing happens.
Apart from that I'm on my 4th playthrough, so the majority of the game is just fantastic.
I'd actually not mind, and enjoy it some, if they had Eagle nests on some of the higher peaks and trees, and the parents would protect it by dive bombing passers by that got too close. That would be realistic and there would be warning signs via seeing the nests and hearing the babies chirp.Originally Posted by Whitelion1284 Go to original post
Even mere crows do this all the time, they are VERY territorial and protective of their nests. Most predatory birds are as well.
It's just a feature of the game that so much takes you out of the Zen of the surroundings. Eagles are very cool and deserve more respect than to be portrayed this way. I particularly love the Bald Eagles and am proud that they are the symbol of our freedom here in America, despite civilians having to be educated on protecting them as a species to save them from extinction.
Bald Eagles can do amazing things. They can snatch a bird out of water like it's nothing. They can play catch in mid air with one another with prey they've caught. And they even mate during freefall. They will nest in both the wild and city, yet they're smart enough to avoid interfering with human culture for the most part. Most of the time you hear about Eagles attacking humans is when people are dangerously close to their nesting areas.
The same is true of Cougars. People will whine about being attacked by them, but they're almost always doing something moronic to make it happen. I used to mt bike a lot. When I did I was fully aware where cougars roam and how they attack. They look for tired prey and like to linger above them, but they generally won't attack humans unless they're desperate for food or feel threatened. When I read about the Cougar killing a mt biker in the LA mountains I had to side with the wildlife. There had just been a big forest fire nearby and these idiots were out there at night. Anyone with half a brain knows after forest fires the wildlife are displaced and desperate for food and water.
