I want to buy FC4, but I fear I can't enjoy it fully without using the same hex edits from FC3.
- No item blinking (corpses, usable objects - really annoying and unrealistic / console game-ish)
- No Camera tagging (hex edit removed the tag icons from the screen and minimap)
- No seeing people through walls (camera hex only affects tags, the see-through walls effect had to be disabled seperately)
- Empty minimap (no convenient locatons of herbs, chests, enemies)
- Being able to unequip the main weapon (the hex edit unequipped it automatically after using a melee attack)

I was able to achieve all of this things through clever hex edits I found online. It made the game harder, but SO much more exciting and rewarding. Does anyone know if these edits have been done yet for FC4? Or if the people who found these edits for FC3 might try to find them again for FC4?
I really don't want to play the game without them.
Unfortunately you are only the most recent of many to notice FC 4 is far less mod friendly than FC 3. I've unpacked the data_win32 file....................the file structure is WAY different than FC 3. Making use of far more binary hex code, and far less of of .xml files which can be opened with a text editor and read in fairly plain issue.................and edited in an easy manner. The modded game elements you mention were great additions to immersion, as were many of the text edits, such as frequency of enemy/friendly/animal encounters, weapons stats/performance, shop prices armor values for enemies etc.
You can check this guy out since he already started modding it http://www.reddit.com/r/farcry/comme...for_far_cry_4/
You can turn on Nvidia Hairworks, by editing the FC4.dll, but I don't know which part does it.
There was a version of the 1.4 patch that briefly enabled simulated fur. I always keep backups of the patch.dat, .exe and the .dll files, in case something goes wrong. After they removed Hairworks, I tried to re-enable it through modding. Turns out, I only needed the FC4.dll of the pulled patch, to enable the SIMULATED fur option again. The game does not connect to the Ubisoft services if I used that .dll, though.
Cool, he already seems to have remade one of those old hex edits. I send him a message, I hope he sees it.Originally Posted by Ironwoods56 Go to original post
Ha. I normally only care about gameplay stuff, but this I might have to read up on also.Originally Posted by BigBoss_329 Go to original post
I got a reply from Redditer JRavens fairly quickly. He's actually attempting to put all of my recommendations in his mod. How awesome is that? But it takes a bit more time because, as stated before, the files aren't similar to FC3.
He also has a little site here where we can keep track of his progress:
jravens.wix.com/farcrymods
That really takes a weight off my shoulders. I have no qualms about buying FC4 now.
Me too- I used extensive mods in FC3. I've already got this guy's attachments mod, and I'll be following his developments. Thank goodness for modders!Originally Posted by Tricky1481 Go to original post
That's a start........................I'd like to see the NE area unlocked from the get go too......................amongst other things. After unzipping and looking at JRs attachment mod its obvious I was messing with the wrong files in the data_win32 file to begin with. I unpacked one of JRs files to see what things looked like; tried binary conversion on one of his .fcb files and my converter tool won't work. Sounds like it's time to consult with him.
