After I get aways away, i'll look back and arrow any demons but look to getting near the bird. It seems you can get a bunch of mouth shots at the very begining and the bird wont come down. But after awhile it will and then you sic kitty on the bird and shoot into its mouth after kitty jumps in. One guy on youtube was using the slow time feature on the bow which seemed to work to get the mouth shot. Eventually there are too many minions and it gets hectic and even scorchers come. but Running after the bird seems to work. I can never get good shots at the birds mouth from a long ways so I take them but rarely do they get the bird down.
But, yes, if your not running your dead. The scorcher balls easily kill you especially if your close to the bird, and then the minions, scorchers and dogs will kill you if you dont keep them managed or...dont get the bird down a few times initially with sending kitty into its mouth. On the third time down, you win.
I never run toward him anymore, because on his close attack he always comes to you, and easily close enough. My last battle I also never had to encounter any minions because I was far enough away from where I was when he started the spawn animation by the time they came.Originally Posted by AndyJackson2012 Go to original post
I feel the most crucial part of this battle is timing your move to the other side of the map right when that spawn attack of his starts. I think it also helps what route you take to get there though. There's a dip in the middle and obstacles here and there that can obscure their view and provide protection while you're moving there.
I think most mistakenly thought when I said cover earlier that I was stopping behind certain objects to heal. That kind of tactic can make things worse, but moving quickly behind cover can do just the opposite.
It really doesn't matter if they see you once you're far away though, because they won't advance from that distance and just sling arrows instead, which aren't hard to avoid from a distance just by moving back and forth.
Why the hell did they bump the difficulty level in this mission to stupid levels???? I've played all the Far Cry games and this by far is the first time I have come across anything so stupid. Far Cry used to be about tactics and not twitch shooting. I have Joint Hypermobility Syndrome which means my twitch control is out the window.
Then there are the bugs... FFS Ubi... I knocked the bird to the ground and he FREAKING FELL FELL THROUGH IT so it became impossible to progress. He then flew benath the ground making it impossible to shoot him. After this happened several times I said sod this part of the game... It's not Far Cry anyway.
It's frustrating because of one thing.... The absurdly long healing animation. I loved the previous missions in Shangri-La too. I had completed the main part of the game and wanted to get 100%... Well I am glad I found this out now and not at the last...
I had tried to do the final Shangri-La mission but got frustrated and just continued on in the game. Now I am done and other than the well known bottom of river-sunken-truck unknown location bug I have only the final Shangri-la mission to do. Problem is, the icon for the temple is missing (I've tried removing all other icons from the map and still cant see it.
Can anyone post the map coordinates to that final Shangri-la entrance?
Thanks!
That was my first reaction, even on Easy, until I found out how simple it is to beat the bird with a few tactics that are really pretty doable.Originally Posted by EG NeoMorph Go to original post
Found this in a few seconds via a Google search. The first part shows where it is on the map and how to get there. Another example of how many posting in this thread make things seem more difficult than they really are.Originally Posted by Fallen_SLI Go to original post
The final Shangri-La mission is much easier than it looks, if you just exploit your ability to slow time, the fact you have a tiger killing stuff for you while you're making the shot, the boss literally stands still for you, and the mooks can be killed in one hit. This boss fight pretty much beats itself.
Thanks for the video to the last Shangri-La location.
However. it would appear that since now I have completed the game, I CANNOT go back in to that mission (in order to get 100% completion) . I get to the cave, get the "press "E" to interact prompt when I get to the alter, but nothing happens when I do. I suppose I should have tried BEFORE I did the final assault mission.
I would have loaded a "prior save" so I could try it, but you know why that is not possible.![]()
I think it may be that if it's one of the entrances you've already used, the Thangka will no longer be there. You probably have to find the entrance that you've not used yet, and that would involve checking Google some more for where the other map icons are located like I did.Originally Posted by Fallen_SLI Go to original post
Keep in mind the Shangri-La icons do not appear on the map one at a time, so the icons do not represent a specific mission of Shangri-La. The mission each entrance takes you to is determined by when you access it.
And BTW, for any whom may still be struggling with the final battle, I'm about to post my video tutorial on how to beat it easily, even on Hard. Look for it in the General Discussion forum.

I'm new to this so apologies if this is not the right place. I am looking for help. Every time I bring the boss down he just lies there and won't open his mouth so the Tiger just stands around. I have done this 10 times with the same result. Does sending the Tiger get him to open his mouth or vice-versa? Maybe I am not using the bow to correctly focus the Tiger's attack. I place the green dot on the mouth and hold down mouse 3 but nothing happens. Any thoughts would be very appreciated.
