*** Spoiler alert ****
The last Shangri-La mission is just ridiculous!!!
I have tried for the last three hours and just can't get though it. (Medium difficulty setting)
You are suppose to shoot his huge dragon bird in its mouth with arrows. Occasionally, when its mouth is actually open, I am so busy healing myself so that I don't get to shoot at it. The healing animation takes forever!
Anyone know how I can get past this?
I am really starting to get fed up with this. Thought that I would enjoy the game, but this is just ruining it for me. I might even quit playing.
UBISOFT, why are you doing this to us???????
I only beat it on Easy so far, and it was a pain even then. I am on Normal now and haven't gotten that far. I always beat all Far Cry games on all modes though, so I'm confident by the time I get to Hard I'll have it nailed
First off, and this is a pain if you haven't because as far as I know, you can't replay Shangri-La missions, MAKE SURE you find all Seekers in the Shangri-La missions leading up to that one, because it will give you more health slots. It also gives you the multi arrow shot, but I found that was not very useful. Also, you cannot use syringes here, but other skills apply. Chained Takedowns help immensely when surrounded by Demons.
I died a few times trying to do it the send tiger and attack minions way, but like you I was spending too much damned time healing. The game hitching like crazy at times didn't help. What finally did the trick for me was staying mobile and forgetting about the minions and just focusing on Big Bird from Hell. That got me through it in one quick session after the failed attempts.
Take note of the surroundings. There are ways to dart from one side of the area to the other with some cover, and you won't need to run to arrow stashes as much if you just focus on the bird. Never stand there and aim if the bird is past it's open mouth animation. Keep an eye on where the wave of minions is and always move to the other side of the map from them.
This way the tiger will keep moving too and stay alive. There's a drop down area with ledges and some obstacles on the upper deck, as well as a low spot in the middle you can use for cover if you need to heal, but you shouldn't have to heal as much with this method.
If the minions are on the other side of the map and the bird is there too, try and get in a distant shot at his mouth if you can. You only need be fairly close for the shot that drops him, so you have time to send the tiger. Keeping the tiger alive is just as important as avoiding fire.
Before I used this method there were a few frustrating times when I had the bird down, but was waiting for the tiger to respawn. This method will help avoid that.
Hmm, i managed it quite easy on hard, the Key is keep moving also don't seek cover if the Bird is shooting Fireballs, instead strafe to avoid them its easier else the splash damage hits you in cover...
Also if the Bird does open the wings and cry, move, move, move, then the bird is summoning Minions and they always spawn exactly where you are, so move, move, move turn and kill them with Takedowns and Arrows...
If Bird is opening Mouth shoot in Mouth, this has to be made quickly and also three Times to bring it down, then immediately send Tiger to bird and shoot in the Mouth as soon as possible...
This too has to be done three Times in Total to finish him!
I was lucky and got it on third try, i tryed with cover first but thats a bad Idea because you get hit in Cover, also you have Time to heal while he summons or after you hit him in the Mouth...
And after you got it down once, he summons more minions and shot fireballs more often, but if he fires fireball that's good because they are easy avoided with strafing and not so annoying like the Minions he summons, because they hit you cross Map with Arrows, so if he summons Minions you have to kill them all first if possible and then you perhaps miss a Mouth Shot in Favor of being killed.
If you keep running and moving they also not get you so easy and you can grab Arrows while doing, so moving and strafing Fireballs is the key, i first panicked and tryed to search cover and learned tat is sure death... LOL!
But to be honest i have a great Help for aiming, i use a AirDrop Red Dot Sight Attachment on my TV, so aiming at the Bird's Mouth even from far away is absolutely no Problem for me, without you probably must be close to the bird, i shoot him cross Map and always perfectly hit the Mouth without Problem, so the Attachment is a advantage for far away shots because i don't have to rely on the tiny almost not visible little dot...![]()

That's not true. I didn't find the third seeker prior to the final Shangri-La level, I have full 6 health slots regardless. You only find seekers specifically in the level you are currently playing on, then you unlock more health slots specifically in that level only. If you have all 6 health slots, found the 3 seekers in the third level, you will have 3 health slots again on the fourth level. You'd have to find 3 seekers in that level in order to get 6 health slots in that level only. The game decided to give you full 6 health slots in the final level anyways, without the need of finding any seekers.Originally Posted by Frag_Maniac Go to original post
That's the exact reason why games are getting easier and easier it seems, the simplest challenges are too difficult... The boss is actually very easy if you pay attention, don't run with your head against the wall and have a little bit of skill on your hands. You have to keep moving in order to survive, always use tiger to kill enemies, always kill as many zombies with bow, try to AVOID damage, yes AVOID! Especially the spells from the bird. Look where the zombies are, keep your distance and heal to full health when you have a clear distance to your enemies, WHILE moving zig zag and finding cover. Whenever he opens his mouth take the charged shot and repeat.
Took me 2 tries on hard. Are you playing on console or what? Because the controller would make the kiting + 180° turns very difficult to execute.
Not really. I usually increase the speed of the sensitivity. You'll often hear those little kids bragging about 360 spin no scope with a sniper rifle in Call of Duty. I may have played Far Cry 4 on the Xbox One, but I always prefer keyboard and mouse!Originally Posted by Rodriquezz Go to original post
I seem to recall having less than 6 health slots on this boss fight, but I'm not 100% sure on that.Originally Posted by KrAzY1337 Go to original post
When playing normally I love cover but it isn't your friend in this battle. I just kept moving and moving. I didn't try to shoot the bird when it was attacking from far away, I used those times to help the tiger out with the minions whilst strafing away from the fireballs. Or run and heal. Every second time it attacks it is close to you, so always hit it on those and it quickly comes down. Took me ages to realise that sending the tiger in isn't enough, you then need to get in front of it and shoot it again. On the third time doing that you won't have to shoot it in the mouth, you're done.
I didn't use any chain takedowns as you can take too much damage while performing them, but knife takedowns are much faster. Only two minions at a time, but generally I left the tiger to fight those. Finally, watch out for the little exploding dogs. They suck. Oh and when the tiger was respawning, I generally just ran a lot, healed up, and only took the easy shots at the bird.
I'm dizzy from running around in circles.
I don't claim to be much good at games, I just like them. Took me about two hours and I'd say 30 attempts on normal difficulty.
