Since a few months there has been a serious problem on track central. Saudipro has been disliking alot of people's (quality or less quality) tracks. My simple solution for this problem would be an option to toggle off the rating system on your track. This way Saudipro can't dislike our tracks anymore![]()
i said this ages ago . only a vote up is needed . the system would work the same and it wouldn't discourage builders and allow spammers to dislike your work due to whatever reason , if you dont like it move on . if you do .vote . maybe to easy a solution to grasp .i wouldnt worry about saudi . ive seen him rate up/down some abominations . hes old school and was thinking he should know better .
I actually liked the 5 star rating from Evolution. Its more accurate and really no different from being abused by someone disliking a track over and over (like the person mentioned above). Ive found myself not rating a track at all on Fusion because i didn't like or dislike it enough to give it a vote. Im pretty fair when it comes to judging a quality track but i cant honestly say that the like/dislike system is working for me.
Not that there will be changes, just felt the need to say it anyway.
I don't think turning off rating would work well, as it would only show in search/new, and that would make the track be very unknown unless advertised via other channels (forum/video/people to people). It would be lost in the void quicker then normal cause it'd never show in highest rated weekly.
5 star made any extreme/ninja with like low amount of ratings pretty much automaticly higher then tracks with 1000+ ratings that end up 4 star. (most my customs were 4-5 star, but still lower then most ninjas, only my Extreme track stayed in All-time for a few weeks)
The all-time rating was really messed up and full of ninjas on PC, and all-time supercross I remember down the stairs supercross was like #1 for 6 months. Glad Fusion does not have a special feed for it, but you can still filter all-time highest anyhow with Search.
Ninjas/extreme being high rated is the same case in Fusion but the % system is more accurate then the jump from 4 to 5 star. So a good lower difficulty track has a bit more chance.
(Speaking from PC Evo experience only)
I still think ninjas deserve their own place/feed for more attention without cluttering "normal" Trials feed.
I consider ninja riding, especially the high level ones a class apart, and I respect the people who finish them.
I completely agree with this, a ninja section would be great. On xbox360 there are more and more ninja tracks showing up in the "hard" section that aren't labeled as ninja. That's frustrating when you're just looking for a quick & easy run.Originally Posted by TeriXeri Go to original post
However, I do heavily rely on the rating system to find what's worth riding - it seems to be mostly accurate when it comes to finding decent tracks. I also tend to press "x" to look at the number of downloads vs the "likes"... if it's over 200 downloads with only 10 upvotes and no downvotes, I know that's gotta be a ninja, I just don't know why they listed it as "hard".
I don't think disabling ratings would acheive anything really as there'd be nowhere for your track to go in the feeds and how should it be treated then? It's not worth the trouble of implementation. Even within the context of the existing system, there's no perfect answer. On the one hand you can leave it as is giving trolls the opportunity to downrate tracks that don't deserve it, but on the otherhand removing the dislike option takes away your ability to downrate tracks that deserve it. I don't have any stats so I can't say which way to go is best based on user behavior. Which brings me to the subject of feeds.
I really liked the 48 hour feed in Evo, it really helped to sort the wheat from the chaff and gave a good track the opportunity to have its moment in the sun. When TC was booming it helped filter out alot of junk and was my main goto feed when looking for something decent to play - before exploring other feeds. It wasn't perfect by any means, but I feel something like that would have been really helpful in Fusion.
Something like a 48 hour feed would be a nice way to drip filter tracks into TC. Ditch the custom feeds, we don't need those anyway as in their present form they're not useful. For custom feeds to work, they'd need to feature alot more customisation options and more complications on the dev side. Favourites is a nice addition that somewhat makes it easier to keep tabs on good tracks/builders and combined with the improved search interface makes custom feeds a tad less neccesary.
In summary: Ditch the custom feeds and add a 48 hour feed (or something similar).
Wait I don't get it. Saudipro dislikes tracks whatever the quality, and so what ? Is that really a reason for suggesting to remove the rating system ?
I don't think he's the type of guy who gives free dislikes lol. I myself disliked some near-TO5 tier quality tracks but I had my own reasons (Bad riding line, improvable deco, ...). Same goes for saudi, he must have specific reasons for disliking.
Btw removing the rating system on a track would just cause it to fall into the deepest abyss of TC without even knowing if people liked/disliked it.
As a result of having over 100 tracks within the feeds actually changes the whole system anyway , it doesnt matter if your track does poor it will still stay in track of the week because there is over a 100 tracks so it being a place of importance to builders has ceased the moment they started to have have all the tracks in the feed its self. Likeing and dissliking tracks is all fare and good if this was done in a manner without trolling and like the thread suggests without hate. Although i take the like and disslike as a measurement of my track it is sometimes hard to do this.
My last track got over 600 likes now up to about 550 i had a mere 11 disslikes , then i posted within this forum and suddenly in a space of 50 or so downloads and i 30% of them was then disslikes which meant my track ended up getgging triple the amount it had previous. I know this is because a few people who had played the track had changed their opinion and after wtaching the replys understood why. Sochanging opinion and dissliking a track shouldnt really be part of it unless it can be policed which it cant be. There is no need to disslike a track if someone has spent time making a track for you to play then if you dont like it just simply dont like it dont vote. Unfortunately some are actually adults who are dissliking tracks an shouldnt really have this power to discredit other peolple work based on a personel note.
If you watch some of the extreme tracks with 1000 downloads , 30 like and no disslikes , sometimes they go on your track knowing you cant vote on thiers and disslike it purely to remove it from above them. So i say either sort the extreme tracks out which i did hear this was being sorted but then also heard that they cant because it will mess everything up. So i think we are stuck with the disslike button , extreme ninja and so forth going round dissliking ppls tracks while we cant vote on thiers.
Canging votes makes me laugh , its such a tactical measure and done frequently in tc this should be taken off
