Anybody who is playing the game knows you have random WTF moments but these were two of my favourites,
I am near a river and there are two RKA guys on the shore. I throw a knife and kill one but the other edges away and into the water. Suddenly he starts thrashing about and the water goes red - he has been killed by a Demon Fish !
Next one I am playing the bit where you have to kill a Blackwater Dragon with explosives. I get the job done but further down there is an elephant drinking and it suddenly jumps about looking as though it is trying to pull something out of the water. A crocodile has grabbed it's trunk ! It gets free and I run down and shoot the croc for hassling one of my pals !
Just M79ed another Demon fish, this time a regular one at close range that was near a river bank I was about to start swimming across from. The shot landed just on the other side of it this time and made the thing fly about 30' straight at me and up over my head.
Some people suggest not using the M79 to make the game harder, but I'd be missing so many fun moments without it. I'll probably ditch it for my final run on hard with no HUD though.
So, I've been running around for at least two hours killing enemies and hunting animals, looting everything I can get, except for plants, and probably carried loot worth more then 200.000 Rupies. Suddenly a Cargo Truck appears, I blow it up and a nearby enemies and his hostage come around to attack me. I kill him, hear a honey badger and kill it to, when a two Pickuptrucks with enemies come out of nowhere. I aim at the Truck, but get attacked by one of those crazy, overdrugged eagles and without being able to protect myself, I get run over by one of those Trucks.
I then get respawned at a locationt I was at two hours ago and all my loot is gone!
Just had probably my craziest WTF moment last night, and it came at a good time because I was testing the awesome new AMD drivers with WAY higher settings and MUCH better performance.
There I was trying to stealth my way as I was surveying Min's Rajgad Gulag fortress. I was so enthralled with the new drivers that I completely forgot the damn mines in front of the place. So after accidentally tripping a couple of them I decide, what the hell, I'll just blow the front door.
Of course by then I'd been stripped of all my armor, so was glad to see a friendly Sherpa wandering along right in front of the place. I quickly topped off and stormed the camp. Then all hell breaks loose with fixed guns, troops swarming me, and choppers coming in.
As I'm holing up in one of the little buildings I notice instead of the Sherpa running away, he decides to run INSIDE the fortress. It was quite strange to see him screaming about the chaos after having literally thrust himself into the fray.
It somehow motivated me to be more expedient though, because I couldn't help but feel I caused it all. My goal then became not just taking the fortress, but saving the Sherpa in the process. So after I shot down the choppers with my explosive tipped arrows, I went on a killing spree with my newly acquired Buzzsaw.
The Sherpa had run well into the fortress by then, but managed to find a good spot near another little building. Soon it was finally all over, without his having died for my blown stealth.
What difficulty level were you on ? I played the fortress on Easy and managed to disable all but the alarm near the doors with my Z93 then blew the doors with C4. When they were open I disabled the remaining alarm by throwing grenades over the roof of the small building and took up position to one side of the doors, shooting anyone who came out. Without the Reinforcements it was no harder than an Outpost.Originally Posted by Frag_Maniac Go to original post
I was playing on Normal, Medium, whatever the 2nd one up is called. With a Buzzsaw and 100 green leaf you don't worry about tactics or difficulty, or reinforcements.Originally Posted by Pinza-C55 Go to original post
Picture the scenes in Terminator where the Terminators raid camps. The Buzzsaw is basically like a small version of a minigun. It will kill a rhino at 50m with one short hip burst. It has a very tight reticule for aiming, a decent scope as well, and it reloads pretty fast. It has a high rate of fire and carries 500 rounds.
My first run through I mostly stealthed through that fortress via the cave behind it. I was up for something new, and I knew there were small buildings inside it where I could take cover from the choppers. The choppers go down easy with one well placed exploding arrow. The rest is pretty easy to mop up with the Buzzsaw. Next play through I plan to unlock the Buzzsaw sooner and use it atop elephants.
All it takes to get the Buzzsaw is 17 of the 18 towers. It's not a bad idea to clear the map first anyway, it can reveal many things that help you unlock better bags and weapons. Do note however that it's not a bad idea to have a silent weapon you can quickly dispatch unexpected predators with while casing ouitposts if you're using the Buzzsaw as a botched stealth backup, or for predators and convoys on your way to outposts and missions. If you're mostly using stealth for outposts and missions, it's very loud and will alert outpost and mission troops even a ways from them.
