Any way to disable "film grain"/"film effect"?

Thought I'd get a quicker answer if I repost it in the proper forum this t
There is a film grain effect in Far Cry 4, you can notice it when you stand in the dark place, look at something black - there will be some miniscule whitish noise effect visible. The problem is it is much more visible on high contrast monitors/TV's than it should be - on my monitor everything is okay, though I still dislike the effect, it's not that noticable. However, on a high-contrast TV the noise effect becomes really annoying. I've dug through the config files and couldn't find anything to disable it, setting Post-FX quality lower actually

    Here's an example:

A piece of the sky with clouds has gray-er dots on it, and the dark part of a shotgun is noise-d up by a post-processing effect.

    Also here's a GIF:

Is there any way to turn it off?
I remember there being a way to modify an engine settings by extracting an .xml config from a .fat file and editing it, but I can't find same file in FC4 archives.

Yea! The only thing I'm seeing in those screenies is an ugly case of aliasing.

It looks exactly the same with AA because it's a post processing filter that is added on top of everything else.

You must be blind then. There are dots of lighter color appearing over the picture randomly, simulating the film noise, hence the name "film effect".
It is oftern used by devs to add illusion of better texture and mask graphic flaws of the game.

    Here's another gif with MSAAx8 :

Dots of lighter/darker colors are seen apearing and disapearing, and that is the effect I'm talking about.

Also AA adds that dumb DOF blur to the gun, and I prefer my games as crisp and un-blurry as possible, which is why I'm trying to find a way to turn this disgusting effect off.

The person who wrote this message explains how to remove the film effect, although the explanation is not very detailed:

Yes. In one of files u need to find XML file which contains "filmgrain" options and change it to "0" or false. I cant do that now as I unistalled Far Cry 4 alreasy mate
He also authored a mod to remove DOF, but I think it is a bit complicated to implement and is only tested on the version 1.5 patch:

I know you have to edit XML, but: XML names and files themselves are encoded in FC4, so you have to know EXACTLY where to look and what to edit. I've already unpacked the game archive and looked through it, but found nothing - it seems that the XML I need is an encoded one, or is "unidentified" by the Gibbed extractor.
