Seriously, wtf is with the lighting in this game? Yeah it's cool to have the day/night light vary over the course of gameplay; but it makes it impossible to see the gameplay sometimes.
I'm not the only person to mention this, as I've seen many other posts of this kind. Right now, I'd love to attack and overtake Moore's fortress before my kids wake up and I have to go back to being a dad, but unfortunately I'm sitting in a forest waiting for some light so I can see where the heck I should go.
Did it not occur to include a flashlight keymap? That way players can use the flashlight when it's too dark to play this otherwise great game? It feels like Doom 3 all over again; thank god that I have quality headphones so I can still hear what is going on. Might as well unplug the monitor.....
Also I get to type this on my smartphone because the Uplay app, unlike many others such as Origin or Steam, has no internet browser capability.

I compensate by bumping brightness one click above the default then adding some color warmth to my TV to keep colors from looking washed out.I also switch to my ambient lighting mode for this game though, an 18" under cabinet type florescent light I have placed behind my TV. Then the only other light I have on is a tiny dark shaded table lamp with mini compact fluorescent that only puts enough light in the room to see my keyboard. That way there's no light wash on the screen and there's more contrast onscreen to see in dark areas better.
About the only time I struggle is in caves where I have to watch my step or fall. The light the guns put out is not much.
If none of the above is doable or desirable, just fast travel to the nearest trading post you've unlocked and use the bed to advance time. The 12 on the watch will be midnight or noon.
