I attempted to use my 360 controller to play the game on my PC the other day (65" TV on Ultra looks gorgeous), but was having some trouble. The game would clearly recognize the controller was turned on as it would acknowledge a "hot-swap" and the button prompts would change to 360 button prompts instead of keyboard prompts. However, the game would not recognize any input from the controller, but responded just fine if I went back to the mouse/keyboard.
This was very similar to another Ubi game on PC (Splinter Cell Blacklist). I came on the forums to see if this was an isolated problem for me and it doesn't seem to be. However, due to my experience dealing with this on SCB, there is a solution and I can guarantee it will work for most of you!
To Fix It:
- Go to start and type/search "joy.cpl"
- You will almost guaranteed see your 360 controller and some other game controller in that menu
- Highlight your 360 controller and you will see the options of properties and advanced at the bottom
- Unfortunately, I'm at work and can't remember which it is, but under one of those menu buttons will be the option to "Make this my primary controller" or something of that ilk
- Load up the game and it should work
What's Going On?
The game essentially only responds to the "primary" game controller and ignores all others (weird that this poor design choice is present in multiple Ubi games and I've never had it with another publisher). My suspicion is that everyone else who is having this problem also has another controller being recognized and considered the "primary controller". In my case, I also have a Razer Orbweaver that is recognized as a game controller and was acting as the primary controller. Alternatively, I believe you could also just unplug the other controller.
