Can't Complete "Death From Above" (SPOILERS)

    Greetings folks,
Having spent literally hours on (SPOILERS AHEAD) Willis' second assassination mission, I'm completely, and utterly stumped. I cannot make it to the end of the canyons with the wingsuit. I've gotten as far as the avalanche before crashing, but at that point, the turns are simply too tight for me to manage. Perhaps my computer specs are too low-end, but I just can't seem to react fast enough to survive. I've got the same problem in the third Shangri-La mission (i.e. the one with the spirals of red leaves. Weaving through the spires seems impossible. (Yeah, I know -- it isn't impossible, because it's been done by plenty of other gamers, but I can't manage it.)

So, folks, considering not everyone is a young, fast, key-mashing speed demon, is there any advice for an aging slowpoke? Some kind of dumbed-down map for klutzes? At the very least -- some way to unlock North Kyrat. Right now, the only missions I can start are: Shangri-La, 3rd round, and Willis, 2nd assassination. And I can't move fast enough to finish either of them. So, I'm stuck half way through an otherwise pretty good game, with no way to progress.

I can't be the only person having the same problem. I could use a "slow moving klutz" mode here.

    Frustrating....

I hate the flying controls in Shangri-La so much. It's so sloooooooooooooow!

It's just one of those "die 50 times until you get it" missions. Ridiculously easy first time, second time I kept dying.

Well, at least I"m not alone.
FWIW, I dug out an old Logitech gamepad (F310-ish), which made flying a bit more responsive. More deaths than cat a in time loop, but at least I got to the point where I hated Willis even more than before.

After 6+ hours and 120+ attempts/deaths, I'm no longer willing to try any further.

I was enjoying the game up until that point, but now, it is so utterly annoying, I can't stand to think about it, and I've had to quit the game.

I agree with your assessment, that not everyone is 'a young, fast, key-mashing speed demon'. The game had me hooked until this mission. Damned shame there is no other option for those of us who just can't do it, except putting away the game, never to look upon another Far Cry for fear of such irritation.

The controls are very sluggish, but you don't need to be a "key mashing speed demon" to complete these missions. The trick to making turns mid-flight is to just tap your A or D keys and do not overcompensate. A slight push of the button is enough to turn Ajay enough to make it through the curves.

As stated you cant hold the keys down except in rare circumstances. I rarely have any problem getting thru the Willis wingsuit part or the Shangri la flying part with the leaves lifting you. I always try to center AJ in the path. I turn before I get to the apex (center) of the turn because there is a noticeable delay in the turning function of the wingsuit or flying sequence, and I only tap lightly the A and D keys to keep me in the center. In the Willis wingsuit I have to hit the W to clear the bridge and the S to lift back up directly after clearing the bridge or I will hit the bridge, and in the Shangri la mission there is one part where when you are flying you have to use the W (down) to go thru an opening in the rock and then hit the s to rise up as much as possible immediately after, or you wont make the next " leaf lift" but that is the only up and down, the rest is centering your trajectory. But in the Shangri la flying part there are spots where you are hugging the walls and have to keep the turn key "A" or "D" down for awhile till you get around the rock and see the next yellow path indicator and straighten out. So....just tap the keys to adjust your postition to be centered, keep centered before you get to the turns and tap once in the turns unless its a big turn. After dieing at the same spot by hitting the wall you will progress further and further until you figure out what needs doing.
If you need more help watch the youtube videos others have done showing the path thru the Willis and Shangri la sections.
I'm sure those that have played FC3 and used the wingsuit alot are much more familiar with its turning abilitys and are used to it.

Stay to right side all way is how I recalled the Willis episode working out; sorry did it first go by some fluke as well; I guess I used the force as I was surprised. I imagine I missed all the keepers by default in that awful mandatory shangricrap.

I recall only one change in attitude (up) and hardly any control movements needed but I do use the wing suit a lot; ;especially when I hit Eject from Buzzer by mistake (altitude is safety) Fast travel is often a good next step after that...

Shangri Doollally Last mission is my comeuppance; I need a good day to ever succeed in that and I will save that as my penultimate action as I guess I need that closure to place the ashes. (The tomb fails to stay demolished after all my mines and C4 were placed.) I personally hate all the Shangri La rubbish as I did the monsters in FC3; they should be optional side missions and I imagine they really will challenge a lot of people hugely. Great test of patience and fortitude if not an exercise in frustration; its what a big glass alcohol is for. It's all useful distraction and I guess I'll play every variation as I did FC3. If you haven't already done it use the hovercraft as primary mode of travel; it's huge fun and great for leaping off cliffs and surviving; coming close second to the quad.

Glad to see your still alive and well brother phenogen, its been awhile.

All the side missions are extra and not necessary to complete the Campaign, I've compeleted it without taking any forts also.
Ya....the black bird is a *****. It certainly isn't impossible and some guidlines help in beating it, but the game can lay you to waste anytime it wants by spawning death right next to you without warning. Or....it can allow you to go unoticed by hordes of minion standing right beside you.
The first time in Shangri-la can be too easy. If you sneak around and takedown all the demons and spin the mani wheels, you are done. The last part you can take a path to the extreme side and go completely past all the demons and scorchers and run up the ribbon highway to the bell without ever taking on the scorcher, so that's easy, ha ha ha.

The others get a bit harder as you get to the final big bird scene being the hardest.

The D pad (or keyboard) is horrible for controlling any vehicle, on the ground or in the air. But it's particularly frustrating in tight places like those last few canyon walls in that mission. I died many times attempting this, but found that the higher I stayed the easier it was. You may need two hands to do it, but keep a finger on the W key all the time, and tap S and D as needed. Good luck.
