Far Cry 4 Possible PC black screen, freeze at start, stuttering and mouse acc bug FIX

Hi guys, this guide is manly for Nvidia users, but I am looking for some feedback from the AMD owners as well.

I was having various issues like freezes directly on start then freeze when the (press any button screen) message showed up, freeze when going from window mode to full screen etc. before I made it run.
So here is what I have done. First of, I reverted back to Nvidia Driver 344.65. I tried all of the drivers including the latest drivers 344.75, 344.65 are the only stable for my EVGA GTX 580 Classified 3GB.
Once you are done, you will most likely have to run your game in borderless.
Press the start button type in Far cry 4 among other things there will be folder called fcc08ad9-29af-4674-a09e-1a2dba8e533f or something similar. open it, you will see GamerProfile.xml make a copy of it as back up and then right click on that and edit. Press CTR+F type in fullscreen enter
It will find the "Fullscreen="1" change 1 to 0. Next to it is Broderless="0" change 0 to 1
    Also change
    DisableLoadingMip0 to 1
    MouseAcceleration to 0
    MouseAccelerationOn to 0
    UseMouseSmooth to 0
    Smoothness_Ironsight to 0

    Save it
    Try to run the game.

I also had to go to the game installation folder the into the BIN folder and had to change the compatibility of the FarCry4.exe to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" Windows 7 even though I have Win 7 Ultimate 64bit version. That was weird. and also apply "Privilege Level" to run as administrator.

And last I had to disable steam and ubisoft in game overlay.

If the stuttering issue persist change the GPUMaxBufferedFrames to 1 and Smoothness to 0 in GamerProfile.xml as well.

    Good luck guys.

    Take Ownership/ Windows UAC

Also make sure you are the "Owner" of the Steam/Ubisoft folder? If not you will have to take ownership. This is happening when you have windows UAC activated. So when the game is trying to make changes to you PC ie same the game or change settings Windows will block it that will cause an error that can freeze, restart, shut down etc. the PC, Soooooooo

Go to the FC4 installation folder and right click on the folder - Properties - Security - edit; see if you can see your name between group of user names.

    Like this:

Beast is my PC Login name, make sure your name is there. If not click on Add...
Type in your PC login name and click check names. If it shows up automatically just click ok Make sure you have full control and go ahead and test it.

You should probably do this also for the save folder.
Press start type in Far Cry 4 a folder called fcc08ad9-29af-4674-a09e-1a2dba8e533f will show up. Open it. Go up two levels. you should be in My Documents. Right click on my games folder and do the same as above.

Let me know how you do

Most likely in My Documents unless you did change the destination.
So if you didn;t change anything it will be C:\Users\YourLoginName\Documents\my games

Thanks! The mip setting worked great! Hardly any stutter now.
I also have GPUMaxBufferedFrames="1" not sure if both it's a combination of both settings.

Hey Glad to hear it helped
The GPUMaxBufferedFrames="1" is fine as well. That would be my next suggestion if the stutter would persist.

    Glad I could help.

    Bad beginnings....

I agree, got a Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 myself. Things are just getting worse! I just installed a fresh FC4 out-of-the-box and started (after the automatic patch download) the game... My machine just rebooted at the moment that the Ubisoft logo appears!! The game wasn't able to write a Gamerprofile.xml to start with.

I am pretty mad at the moment. I deliberated didn't bought this game when it was released to know for sure that bugs etc. wasn't something I have to deal with. My system is pretty up-to-date at the moment. Got the latest driver from Nvidia etc. I know for a fact that the hackers-scene also came across this bug, and knew a way to solved it. Now I am standing here 1 month after the game got released here, and I am reading this bug is still a "thing"? The 1.50 patch is somewhere released this week. No link whatsoever available to earlier patches to try? Man... Ubisoft and the game makers must scratch seriously on their head on this one! You are not creating fans at this moment now!! I am boiling...
