I fixed it by setting microphone level on 50% on Realtek application and making a Microphone boost +30 dB.
Not an option on my mic, I have to manually set it back to 100%. Really frustrating seeing this being a bug for 2+ years. Kinda confirms that Ubisoft's reputation isn't changing, still bad with bugs.

I'll just go ahead and necro this post.

This **** is still going on, and now it's in For Honor. I've turned off all options that "automatically adjusts voluime" both in Uplay and in Windows.

As soon as I get invited to a group or get some kind of error within the game my mic volume boosts to 100% and I blow my friends eardrums out. If I cause someone tinnitus you are taking the blame Ubisoft. Because you haven't bothered to fix this for at least 3 years. What the actual **** is going on in your bug department ?

Pissed off regards - Annoyed customer.

    Workaround

Had the issue with my mic levels changing when playing for honor. My mic would drop to 0 in my sound settings every time I got an invite. I noticed that the issues started after I had changed my mic levels ingame. So it seems to me that for some reason when you use the Uplay overlay it syncs your system sound levels with the sound levels for the game you are playing. I changed my mic levels ingame to 100 and now my mic levels don't change anymore when I use the Uplay overlay to accept invites etc. So I would guess that for people experiencing a rise in mic levels try lowering your ingame mic levels to match what you want your system levels to be.

Hope this workaround works for you guys as well. No clue why Ubisoft have not fixed this issue that seems to have been around since 2014. Kind of sad.

This happens to me in both For Honor and GR:Wildlands Beta.

This is extremely annoying and I'd have to say after 3 years, unacceptable.

I had read this thread and noticed everyone that mention the realtek drivers. Just a thought, I have Logitech G930 Headset and have not run into that problem *knocks on wood* I do not know if you guys are using headset or standalone mic but, did you update that driver as well? It is a easy driver to forget about. Like I said, just a thought.

    I have the answer!

check out this video by Trainloaf. He explains that you can fix this by editing the options.ini. Be aware that whatever you set this to the game will adjust your mic to that number.

    Documents > My Games > For Honor > Options.ini
    Scroll to [Voice Chat]
Change VoiceChatInVolume= ENTER THE NUMBER HERE THAT YOU WANT YOUR MIC LEVELS TO BE.
    SAVE
    RIGHT CLICK Options.ini
    SET AS READ ONLY

all credit to Trainloaf for finding a fix to this incredibly annoying problem.

Still have this problem in Far Cry 5 and Ghost Recon Wildlands

Mic level keeps resetting to 0 and nothing anyone has posted helps (Apart from workarounds that require you to alt-tab, but I don't want that)

Please fix... it's been almost 5 years since the first person reported this and it annoys me to hell and back (O_O)
