PC and Console Tech Issues need to be separate. Lumping both Consoles and PC issues into the same forum goes hand in hand with a developer mentality that produces PC versions from direct console ports rather than treating each as a separate entity affording the PC the respect it deserves. That is one reason why the the PC version of FC4 suffers so bad. It did not get separate focus from the console and neither do these related forums on this site. But I digress...
I can't be the only PC guy who came here and realized he did not know whether to start looking for PC tech issues in the tech forum or in the PC discussion forum. Sounds like the tech forum was intended for all tech discussion and PC discussion appears like it was meant for everything else, however this concept does not work as there are some PC tech issues in the general forum and the MAJORITY in the PC Discussion forum.
The format of these forums especially the technical forum and PC discussion forum are not well thought out. The PC Discussion forum should have it's own technical subforum rather than having one technical issues forum encompassing all consoles and PC. The reasoning is that PC's are much more complex than the other consoles. HW configurations and software configurations are endless and far exceed the potential issues that plague consoles. It is inefficient to lump PCs and Console issues in the same pot with regards to the tech issues forum. I can guarantee you that the Tech forum is the last place PC gamers go for PC related Tech issues.
As you can see, this has caused your PC Discussion forum to be the number one venue for technical complaints and issues COMPLETELY overshadowing any other non technical related discussions as it appears this forum was meant for. People going into the PC Discussion forum for anything not break/fix related have to be exposed to a crap storm of negativity and heartache. One example is the guy who posted that he is selling FC4 in this PC discussion forum. So that one topic for instance is floating on a FC4 cesspool that dominates this forum LOL. Same with other benign FC4 topics that have to reside here like needles in an unemptied port-a-potty. So my point is, make a subforum for PC tech issues so you don't strangle what little discussion there is here related to anything positive, otherwise it will be overshadowed.
I don't know maybe it doesn't even matter. It was just the impression I had after struggling to find out where the best place was to post tech issues for PC. Just my 2 cents.

I respectfully disagree. Maybe once the major technical issues are ironed out, then switch to a dedicated forum.
But right now? People assume, and not unreasonably, that a "tech support" sub forum is nothing but a dumpster that Ubi can ignore. Those with major issues want their threads to be seen so Ubi feels some sort of pressure to actually fix things.
You make some VERY valid points but IMO they are moot considering that as of now, The "PC Discussion Forum" is the unofficial " PC Technical Support Forum". It causes major confusion, double posting between the PC and Tech forum, and the general inability for PC users to know which forum to use. It's not intuitive and tiresom, thus when in doubt ppl just use the PC Discussion Forum.Originally Posted by LinkZeppeloyd Go to original post
Regardless of how things were intended, PC Users congregated their Tech Issues here. I believe this is the natural tendency for PC users to have maximum exposure to a "PC Related Forum" where more robust PC Expertise and discussion will predominate.
As far as your comment on a subforum being a dumpster for Ubisoft to ignore.. Well, Ubisoft already ignores what they want to ignore regardless of where it is posted. Having issues in one forum vs another on this site is not going to stop issues from being pursued and on the contrary will make it easier for issues to be properly seen rather than having a disjointed user base flip flopping between 2 different forums.
The reason that these myriad technical failures need to be laid bare in the general discussion forum is, as the previous poster said, because Ubisoft can safely and selectively ignore bug reports in a tech sub-forum because every single post in that sub-forum is going to be related to the game's many glitches, and any potential forum-browsers would expect to see a long list of bug reports in a tech sub-forum. Those same forum browsers (which include journalists and potential customers) are going to have a very different view of this game (a much more accurate view) if they see the general forum flooded with bug reports. This puts a lot more pressure on Ubisoft to either respond to or moderate bug reports in the general forums, which leads to a greater likelihood that something will be done to fix the problems.Originally Posted by Bobaslaw Go to original post
A tech support sub-forum is fine for a game that is in good working order. Far Cry 4 is broken in so many serious ways that, until some fixes are incoming, it's better that any and all forum-goers know the extent of the damage ASAP.
I agree with your point.Originally Posted by flying_saucerz Go to original post
Aside from that, I think I am just an angry PC gamer who is looking at an unrelated bigger picture. From a PC gamer perspective, PCs should be removed as far from the console world as humanly possible so those issues can be focused on rather than distracted by completely irrelevant console issues. This forum setup is an EXACT mirror image of how developers create one cookie cutter game port for consoles and miss optimizing it for PC. To them, just like this forum, there is no line between consoles and PC, and IMO, the reason PC versions today all suffer from this developer mindset, from the creation aspect all the way to the support focus aspect. I think the forum setup for me was just another reminder of how PC focus is completely lost in a sea of console gravy.
Thank goodness some people, very few though, in the tech forum actually put in helpful tags in the subject line (PC, PS4, etc), otherwise its plain idiotic.
If I had to go into an automobile support forum for honda issues, but had to look through a general tech forum with all makes/models I would go apecrap. The advanced search here is useless to sort PC related issues in the tech forum.. You can't. It's ridiculous. And this sort of organization goes both ways... Ubisoft has no clear way to sort PC issues from the general tech forum because there is no actual tag, or checkbox in a post for that forum tying it to the HW. The only hope is if someone describes it in the title or post..
See, your point is about Ubisoft getting slammed with all issues in one forum so they will fel pressure to take action.. My point is about how all that is organized and sorted. Not just for Ubisoft's benefit but from a user looking to find stuff who can't navigate such a mess without being able to properly search.
