Hey there, first post.
I bought a new GPU recently which came with FC4, I'm currently doing a misson called Don't Look Down, I built the grapple and descended down the mountain, the weird creature cut the rope and I fell and woke up in a labourer camp thingo, I made my way through there and got to the exit, shot the door open and ran down the hill, but every time I hit the bottom and it begins to load, the game goes to a black screen after loading and says *Far Cry 4 has stopped working*, I watched a YT video to see that you wake up after it with Sabal talking, but I cannot proceed and cannot go back, I try to verify the integrity of the game cache and it constantly fails, I know reinstalling the game will probably fix it, but apart from having slow net, I'd rather set that as a last resort, any help would be much appreciated.
Edit: I backed up the game and got Uplay to uninstall, now trying to reinstall it keeps failing, saying to check that I have an active connection, reinstalled Uplay too.. which did a whole lot of nothing
Edit 2: Now the backup won't boot, goes straight to Uplay which tries downloading it and complains about not having a network connection.. this is getting annoying
Edit 3: After hours of farting around and making all sorts of things happen, I ended up being stuck with reinstalling, so that's roughly 48 hours of downloading again, after this I'll see if the game persists to crash on this mission, better not..
Little Update
Download finished and I got the game running off one of my SSD's, now when I go to continue the game it stops working straight away. If you wanted to know the specs, all you have to do is ask.
CPU: AMD FX8350
MB: Asus Crosshair V Formula Z
RAM: two poxy 4GB Corsair sticks/8 gigs total at 1333mhz
GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SC
OS: Windows 8 Pro 64 bit
Drives: Main Drive is an OCZ Vertex 4 128gb, seconday now with the game installed on it is an Adata SP900 128gb if I remember correctly, One of the steam HDDs is an old WD Blue Sata 2 drive, another one is a Samsung 1Tb which I originally had the game installed on, 4th is a really super old backup drive which is a Seagate of some sort - 250gb, another Seagate 500 gb drive and another 1Tb HDD.
For drivers, yeah this thing is always up to date given the work I do with it.. why do I have a feeling this game might hate my Razer peripherals?, not that I can really test considering without them I can't open up the game lol.. I'll just stream to my phone and see what happens I guess.
Edit: That lousy test yields the same results ofcourse xD.. pretty annoying that I can't play now, and I don't want to restart the game and I am sure as hell not reinstalling again, Australian internet is horrible.. I hope someone has seen this.
UPDATE: WOOOP got it going, so after reinstalling a couple times it FINALLY let me verify the integrity of the files and it was fixed, I had a feeling one of the files was missing considering it didn't play that yetti video down the hill, chances are there was plenty more stopping it too, but basically if it ***** up for you like it did for me and you end up doing a reinstall or something, keep trying to verify the files and it should hopefully work.. sorry I can't be of more use.
