Hi all,
First time thread-er, long time reader.
I personally have not had many issues with Far Cry 4. Once my camera wouldn’t zoom but I just restarted. I’ve played Far Cry 1,2,3, and now 4 all on console and have been very happy with the series.
After witnessing the same kind of hate on the GTA V forums, I’m saddened to see it’s the players not the game that is the problem. I understand that the game was made for console and, apparently, badly ported for PC.
BUT, really, get a life haters. You act as if your world will come to an end due to bugs or expectations not met. Things will get fixed, and if not, then put your money where your mouth is and don’t buy anymore of their games.
IT IS A GAME. A forum is to talk about stuff. Complain to tech support, not on general discussion, don’t chuck a tantrum in the middle of the shopping aisle like the snotty nose basement rats that some of you are.
So let’s chat. And in total fear of contradicting myself, I would like to say:
I was saddened that split screen co-op wasn’t available, had many good gaming hours with my god son on FC3
I too hope that the button prompts and objective indicators can be turned off one day.
Hello to you, and welcome. First, I don't agree with you. This is not "just" a game, that's 60€ worth game in my country (~$75). I'm also happy with this game, I play it on my PS4 and I'm enjoying it so much. But I believe that people have certain problems with this game, because this is Ubisoft. I didn't encounter any problems with it (yet) so I think that I spent my money well. So there is no reason to call these people "haters", that's dumb. I just HATE that haters word. Why are you hater if you expect working product when you PAY for it at DAY 1? Game should work, no if's, and's or but's. When I buy certain game I DEMAND that my product works as it should, I'm not paying to be their beta tester like I'm with this BS AC:Unity (if they pay me, no problem I'll test it for you, but nooo, sell it and let people PAY YOU for testing it). It's awesome that people complains over that BS that Ubisoft is doing lately. Do you think that you support someone by sayng that everything is ok but you know that something is not right? NO, you are making it worse. Ubisoft needs to step up, they messed up with Unity, and I was sceptic about buying FC4. But I played it at my friends house, saw it with my own eyes, I've been reading through some reviews and everything looked ok. I had pre-ordered my FC4, but after that crappy AC:Unity I canceled it, and won't buy any products from Ubisoft before I see it with my own eyes and read some reviews.Originally Posted by rar656 Go to original post
So please, don't call someone hater just because he has problems with their game, because I'm 1000000% sure that people have problems with it, like I said, this is Ubisoft. And yeah, if I pay for it, I expect it to work as it should on DAY 1, that's my right to do. (I can understand some online problems, there is a lot of people rushing on your servers, I don't mind that, but unoptimized crap like Unity for example? No I'll complain about it until they fix it, I don't care about what others think, you can call me hater if you want.)
To finish this: I personally don't have any problems with FC4 yet, but if they occur, I will complain about it, I paid for my game, I didn't downloaded it from some torrent site!
You've played without any issues? Are you on a PC? If you are, what are your specs? I've had only the save issue since the main patch was installed, but I'm just waiting to hit one of the bugs everyone is complaining about.Originally Posted by rar656 Go to original post
I'm also in agreement with the second poster. When you pay $60 for a product, you should have the reasonable expectation to be able to use that product as was intended. There are lemon laws for cars, you legally can get your money back if they can't fix the car's defects after a reasonable attempt at repairs, so if you pay for a piece of software the developer can't fix after a reasonable amount of time of trying, they should give back your money, right. It don't work that way, do it?
I admit, maybe I’ve been one of the lucky ones. I’m not playing on PC, just last gen xbox. It looks pretty good for last gen.
I haven’t had any problems apart from the aforementioned camera zoom fail.
So I guess I don’t understand what it’s like to be excited about a new game for it only to bug out.
That said, I just recalled my first go at FC2 I came across a game stopping bug only 20% in. I threw the game on the pile of shame, only to start again a year later and finished with no problems.
FC4 did come out hot on the heels of FC3 (just an expression), maybe there is not enough testing done before release.
Makes you wonder how polished the game would have been if they held back release for another 6 months.
I retract my hater comment and insert sympathy to all you bugged out gamers. And hope I play on bug free.
P.S. I have two friends also on last gen who haven’t experienced problems either....hmmmm
I must say I agree with you. The amount of hatred online is staggering. Keyboard warriors.
In terms of the game being ported from console to pc, that's just not true. All games are developed on computers, then ported to console, not the other way around. Problems only arise because there's so many different types of parts, drivers etc. It's much more easy to develop a game for a console because all the hardware is the same. So naturally pc will have more issues, that's just the way it is. And I say this as a pc gamer, who hasn't had a console for years.
But people are spoiled, there's so many games out there which have been running flawlessly, a minor issue is often misrepresented as a major one. That's not to say there aren't any problems, but nothing cannot be patched overtime. Look at BF4, that game has had problems for a year, and only now have they been dealt with (mostly).
Developers are under major pressure to get things done before the holidays. If games didn't have deadlines they would probably end up more polished, but at the same time lots of games wouldn't be finished in the first place. So devs and publishers have to find a balance between delivering a product and finetuning it. You can't have it both ways.
If you buy any product that doesn't work at all or as expected don't you have a right to asked for it to be fixed swiftly or for your money back? Sometimes this can get lost in "hate" but the principle is correct. The way Ubisoft has handle these issues and issues with other recent broken titles is just a slap in the face to gamers... all gamers! I agree that I will put my money where my mouth is and NEVER buy a Ubisoft title again and I am currently seeking a refund for Farcry 4 because not only is it broken (and basically a BETA release in my eyes) but I don't feel I have actually received the product I pre-ordered originally. I also don't like the way the Ubisoft community managers / support staff have treated me and just because this is a game doesn't mean that I will take poor customer service any differently than in any other industry. I am not a keyboard warrior as one post put it, if I could talk to Ubi face 2 face I would be saying the same things in the same way. I have brought many Ubi titles over the years and for the most part enjoyed them all, however recently they have gone seriously down hill in both quality and service.
Well so far I have put 48 hours and 8 mins into the Far Cry 4 single player campaign, I am on my second time playing through because the first time there was an issue where 4 skills simply would not unlock no matter how many times I tried - See video below.
Also the Crossbow and some other weapon did not become available yet I completed the game and did all outposts and towers - Anyhow I then had to lose all my time in the game because it won't allow us to have multiple saves so I started fresh again, managed to get the crossbow this time which is great but there are some other issues such as Pagan Min Convoys nowhere to be seen in the game but that's no biggie.
Now the Map Editor took some time to get used to with FC4 - But there is a serious issue on consoles where Camera Auto Scroll turned OFF still acts as turned ON - Basically it does not work so it is very difficult to get items lined up especially when doing close up work, you select the ideal viewpoint then when you go to select the item Camera Auto Scroll ON always moves the view you selected - sometimes you get one away from the item so you have to then use Move Obyects by Degrees and be blind moving then checking over and over.
And anyone who uploads a map to the database can't then delete the ma[p or overwrite it because that is another issue.
I have no HATE for the above but would hope at some point that these issues can be resolved with the Editor Auto Scroll and Deleting maps that are outated because they have been edited and re-published.
Have to say that because you need to be aware that some people are having issues - I am actually enjoying the SP Game a lot, it is a whole lot of fun - can't say about COOP as I only joined one game and the guy left within 5 seconds.
So for me it isn't hate but you might view it that way - people should be able to speak out though if they are experiencing issues even if more often than not it appears to fall on deaf ears.
Your memory must be getting short. I remember the Splinter Cell Double Agent mess back in 2006 and Ubi kept delaying the release date because it never really got out of BETA, even AFTER they finally released it. It's still buggy to this day because Ubi figured once it was past a certain age, they could drop all efforts at fixing the game because most people had probably moved on to something new. Well, I like to keep some of my older favorite games installed and I play them again when the notion hits me. Of all the Splinter Cell games, I no longer have that one installed because of the bugs or poor re-playability. I still do play with Blacklist and Conviction because they got those mostly right, although they would have done better to return to SP Chaos Theory basics. I haven't even patched ACBF4 because people are still having issues with the game long after it was released, even after being patched. I did manage to play through twice in offline mode in single player, but I missed out on a lot of online features. Also, don't forget Ubisoft is not alone. There is EA's own heaps of steaming junk games and the Windows Live games that pretty much never went anywhere support wise. I even had to create an X Box Live account just to play several Windows Live games on my computer!Originally Posted by map916 Go to original post
Video games are like drugs. We keep buying them, even after a bad trip, because we keep hoping that the next fix will be better. It's an addiction. That's why companies keep releasing buggy games and we idiot game users keep on buying them like the addicted suckers we are. But you're right, I WAS going to buy AC Unity, but after seeing the far more extensive list of problems than even Far Cry 4 has, I decided to keep my hard earned money. They lost a sale.
They can sell it again to theirs fanboy base, not to me. I'm grown man who likes to chill and play some games on my PS4 when I come home from my work. There is a lot of game developers which actually care about product they create. EA and Ubisoft? Two worst companies in gaming industry, for sure. Like I said, after AC:U they lost me, I just hope that they'll fix it somehow (fps problem) so I can just rush through story and sell my game. I'm done with AC and Ubisoft.Originally Posted by tunnelcat Go to original post
I'm a female in my late 50's and I find that I have a slight addiction to wanting the newest and greatest games out there. I keep craving new stories and adventures and I especially like the nice looking graphics on the PC, but I do pick and choose carefully because I only have so much money to spend. However, there comes a time that it's just not worth the hassle of being some software company's beta tester, on my dime no less. That's why I keep a lot of my older games on my hard drive. I can go back and entertain myself without hassle.Originally Posted by Sejdovic11 Go to original post
