I just finished the game and heard aboutso I decided to start a new game. Then it stated that this will overwrite my current save.Spoiler: Show
So I went into my documents and my games and found the Far Cry 4 folder and made a copy of it. However, turns out this wasn't the correct folder and now my save file is gone.
Why oh why do we have limits on the amount of save files on a game released in 2014? We've had multiple save files since the dawn of video games, and there is no freaking reason not to. I have now lost all I had, and to be honest I do not feel motivated to play through the whole freaking game all over again just to get to the point I was. This doesn't even make any sense!
I totally agree man,Originally Posted by aLmAnZio Go to original post
My problem is that I have a save with 99.99% because of one location is bugged and I can't play again cause I will loose this grinding save. There is no way in hell I will be looting and completing EVERYTHING on hard again. Not any time soon anyway.

Where are game saves located on our hard drives if the game is installed solely through Uplay (and not via Steam), and can you back them up without the cloud save corrupting them or overwriting them? Might be worth it to create back ups of the save files now and then, since Ubi won't let us use multiple save slots.
I found some files listed as "save file" under Program Files, which is weird since usually game save files in Windows 7/8 are located under Documents, because files in Program Files folders generally can't be overwritten.
Because it's a console game, dudes. It's literally 100% made for consoles. The evidence is overwhelming. Lackluster graphics (the game looks good, but even maxxed out it looks no better on PC than on PS4, and it doesn't even approach BF4/Crysis 3 graphics), horrendous stuttering, intrusively large UI buttons that cannot be toggled (PRESS SHIFT TO HOLD BREATH yes thank you I know after 100+ sniper kills don't need to see it every single time).
The Ubisoft saves are located within:Originally Posted by Ba5tard5word Go to original post
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\[long string of letters, numbers, characters]/xxx
the "xxx" is a folder of 2 or 3 numeric digits.
Check them all for the one which has the following files:
1save
2save
those are the only save files generated by FC4. It is assumed one is for the auto/manual saves within the game, and the other for mission/quest saves.
The save system is wacky and doesnt always work right. When you see the golden knives it should be saving but....it will always seem to put me back at the point where i finished a mission, or near a tower or fast travel point. To save your game files in case you get glitched out here it is:Originally Posted by aLmAnZio Go to original post
save file: computer>x86 program files> ubisoft>gamelauncher>savegames>"long number"> hit open and hit 420 file folder> then you have save and save.upload files (4 files) copy and paste them to your folder, and if starting a new game remove them by deleting them completey and new game will be your only option at start up, to keep for later if trying to reload a game from a particular point . Make a folder on your desktop or ? and name and save your files to start over from later.
I have a set made under the 1.4 patch and can give you them misson by mission up to the sleeping saints and city of pain Paul Depluer capture point (5.5 hours in)without taking any forts, and also later in the game like after Durgesh prision. and just before Sabal orders you to kill Amita (if your chose Sabal) which is near the finish so you could get to the Pagan scene without going thru the 25 hours of gameplay to get there.. Most guns available and most bags leveled up to 3.
Of course I have the Uplay cloud disabled and play offline always and the cloud may interfer with your saves.
