    Second playthrough "Realistic" challenge

Having finished the game first time round on hard, I couldn't be bothered going for 100% completion so I took a backup and started a new save with some self-imposed limitations to try and make the game a bit more challenging, since it'll be a while before the re-balance mods start to appear. Here are my recommendations for a more "realistic" (and tougher) game experience:

    - Hard difficulty
    - Minimap off (in interface settings)
    - XP indicators off (in interface settings; means you don't automatically *know* when you've killed someone through brush etc.)
    - No signature weapons (they're too good!)
    - No silencers except on sidearms (silenced long range weapons are too good, unless you want to take the bow as your main weapon in which case good luck to you!)
    - No special syringes (they're too good!)
    - Crafting upgrades limited to level 1/3 weapon holster, 1/4 ammo bag, 1/4 quiver, 1/4 wallet and 1/4 loot bag. No other upgrades.
    - No sidearm grenade launcher (optional - because while it is incredible overpowered, it's perhaps too much fun to give up)

I've not specified detection indicators off, because I think that without the minimap or hunting syringe it's reasonable to keep these on since the enemy can see so much better through brush than you can. Having only one sidearm and one main weapon slot and limiting your resources really forces you to think about your loadout and makes for some great moments when your ammo runs out during a big fight. Enjoy!

I like more of a challenge as well, but if I started over, I would do things a little bit differently.

I'm on my first play through (just starting Act 2) and I've already turned off my minimap and switched to hard. I've also turned off the detection indicators and the ability to tag enemies through the scope/sights of your weapon. I think it's totally unrealistic to know where enemies are that you can't see. I also believe you can judge when you will be detected just fine without the indicators... You should assume that if you can see them, they can see you (or will soon) and act accordingly. Also since I turned off the tagging of enemies, I can generally tell where the closest enemy is when I'm behind cover simply by their voice. The game does a good job of localizing sounds and the cocky bad guys just don't know when to shut up

I also agree with you about syringes, but if your reactions/stealth sucks, and don't want to play the same mission or base capture over and over 10 times, then use syringes it just saves a ton or restarts. (also see my comments below about using syringes to compensate for the unrealistically aggressive wildlife).

I also agree with the ammo and loot bag being capped at 1/4. But realize that a small ammo bag just means more trips back to the trading post which may be realistic, but also extremely inconvenient. However, I'm amazed how often I see my Sherpa buddy (portable trading post) pop up.

However, since the wallet is just holding paper money so I'm not opposed to a bigger wallet. The fact is, there's very little to spend money on after the first act anyway (by then you will have everything you want). I have close to 2M rupees in my wallet and nothing to buy and so I no longer bother with looting chests or searching bodies anymore. Although I prefer to move around on foot, an interesting addition to the game would be the ability to buy vehicles and customize those... I wouldn't mind having my own custom 4x4 once in a while, or a blinged-out Tuk-Tuk

Where we disagree is on the weapons. I think one handgun, one weapon slung over your shoulder (bow, rifle, GL), and one weapon on a chest harness (SMG, Assault Rifle) is well within reason. I also believe silencers are realistic and essential as a one-man squad facing large groups of enemies. Personally, a big draw to the game for me is the weapon choices and customization. I don't have a problem with the signature weapons. I love the Shredder and the fact that it's hard to find ammo in the field makes me use it sparingly as a defensive weapon (when I need to fight my way out of a tough situation). I use the bow as my preferred weapon.

The only problem with all of this, is you will get killed often by animals which you can just chalk up to unrealistically aggressive wildlife and try not to let it frustrate you. You really have to pay attention to which parts of the maps are owned by predators and either avoid them or be careful crossing them. Pay attention to animal sounds and when you hear something... go into full alert and be quick with your defensive weapon. Simply because of the unrealistic aggressive wildlife, I'd suggest using syringes to compensate. Then just not choose to use them in firefights if that's your preference.

One of the cool things about this game, is that it can be as easy or challenging as you choose.

    Far Cry 4 Challenge Run

My challenge run looks like this:

    - Hard difficulty
    - No healing in-mission, attacking outposts, or climbing bell towers. This includes damage from hostile animals (healing while exploring, collecting loot boxes, or hunting is acceptable).
    - “The Tiger” upgrades only (this means that you will not make any upgrades under the heading “The Elephant”; this includes upgrades to your health bar, syringe effectiveness, and the ability to ride elephants)
    - Standard Healing syringes only (no special syringes or syringes that tell you enemy locations)
    - Minimap: Off
    - Explosive Warning: Off
    - XP indicators off
    - Crouch Indicator: Off
    - XP Display: Off
