About the only of those I can agree on (other than the aforementioned abilities) is the Eagle attacks are a bit overstated.
Most of the rest though is just nit picking about gameplay design that is there more for player challenge than real world rationality. For instance if a guard escorting a hostage were to always take cover immediately, it would be too easy for player to rescue said hostage.
In other words it's very common in games that the player has to suspend disbelief to engage in the challenges the game offers.
I have no problem suspending my disbelief; it's just that it seems that my character's abilities/weapons are likewise suspended at the same time. During those 'dream' quests Ahjay's coordination was off half the time, he was handicapped with substandard weaponry, to the point that the adversaries seemed to have unfair advantages. Those 'trippy' quests were definitely slanted towards the adversary, every single time. I just don't happen to care much for mandatory fantasy-type sequences in a game that had been pretty realistic and gave you options up to that point.
For the record, I own FC2 (although I got that only in some bundle and never finished due to bad design) and I also own FC3, which I genuinely liked (it had it's own problems, but the good things over-weighted the not so good). I also own the FC3 Blood Dragon, which I also liked. So I was happy when I saw on the early gameplay movies, that FC4 is a FC3 clone mostly. I also own most of the Assassin's Creed games (7 titles).Originally Posted by Frag_Maniac Go to original post
The devs of course wanted to change things so people won't say they just copied everything from FC3 (they say it anyway, since it is true). Being bad devs though, they added things which made the game all the worse. The sad thing is, this downward tendency is present in all of Ubi-s recent games. Watch Dogs was a failure despite the hype. FC4 is worse than FC3 (still better than FC2 tho and I'm not talking about the graphics). ACU is a minor catastrophe, it is released far before it was ready (it is basically unplayable on my computer due to unoptimized engine reasons). None of the earlier AC games had any similar issues.
I guess they need money badly, so they just have to release more titles to generate revenue. For example the AC4 had 25(!!!!) minutes of credits list. That is awful lot of people to pay salary to and most of those worked only on that title. So yeah, Ubi is going downwards.
Well, I guess I'm okay with that, I don't mind if they flop, they deserve it. There are other studios who know what is gaming about and they will release similar titles. I prefer buying GAMES instead of FRANCHISE PRODUCTS anyway.

Exactly the same for me.Originally Posted by Frag_Maniac Go to original post
I used it a little in FC3 because there is a keybind on one more syringe. But I used it only at Hunt quests.
I will try to use it maybe : Just make some training, and systematicly use a combat syringe at start, before assault when I've time to do it. It look fun, but the timeout is too shoort.

FC4 is a triumph and one of the best games of the year.
@ Dia and tango,
Although I do agree to some extent that the dream sequences ushered in with Far Cry 3&4 do somewhat contradict the tactical nature of the game, they also tend to expand the dimension of FC into more of an action adventure vs mere shooter. Far Cry has always had some element of action adventure exploration, and certainly sci fi as well. The only one that didn't really go over the top with sci fi was FC2, and that was easily the least impressive title.
So whether it's their reaction from feedback on FC2, or their own ideas from the beginning regarding these fantasy moments, Far Cry 1 started out with some pretty crazy stuff with the Trigens. In certain ways I like that they went more cultural than scientific with the new ideas, and they DO tie into real human cultures like Voodoo and Hindi mythology (Rakshasa) beliefs.
From looking at the trailers I was skeptical that Shangri-La looked too monochromatic, fantastical, and even boring, but if anything I found it's segments, including those that tied into it like Don't Look Down and Payback, to be very interesting and challenging. And the controls are only dumbed down when you're groggy, which quickly wears off.
It was the Yogi and Reggie missions that were rather off putting to me. Seemed a bit senseless and I couldn't help at that point but feel I was playing a protagonist that really didn't care about himself much to be letting addict strangers use him as a guinea pig. Aside from Y&R and a few skills that are now relegated to syringes, which I didn't use much in FC3 anyway, I feel most of what they added is good though.
Overall I feel Far Cry 4 solidly deserves it's Shooter of the Year accolades. As much or more so than Bioshock Infinite earned it last year. There's no other shooter this year that even came close. The year I cried foul was 2012, when Best Shooter went to Borderlands 2 instead of Max Payne 3. The fact that Bungie stole money from the A:CM project to make Borderlands 2 made it even harder to take.
The wildlife is just terrible. Constant eagle attacks. Stealthily sneaking up to an outpost just to be attacked by an animal and have to give your position away.
It's so unrealistic, those animals would run a mile at the slightest sniff of a human in the wild. I can't see why they decided to make the animals so aggressive, it doesn't add anything, it's just annoying as hell!
I also feel a bit uncomfortable about having to hunt endangered animals, they give you a camera but you can't take photo's, I'd have loved some sort of photography challenge. But then I suppose that would be impossible at present as you'd just get your face eaten off in seconds.
Whoever tested the game must have been attacked endlessly by Eagles, how did they not flag up how annoying it is!!!
