I hope this has't gotten forgotten. Please bring back the ability to delete published maps.Originally Posted by xMiiSTY Go to original post
*Delete map functionality
I just wanted to add my voice to this because it can't be mentioned enough. It is the worst mistake I have seen in a long time...game is awesome, editor is awesome, the lack of options to update or delete, worst idea ever! Can you imagine how many GB's of wasted server space there is due to this? I can't image this being part of the plan, I mean who would think this is a good idea while also ignoring a standard that is already established with big games like GTA?Originally Posted by Janne252 Go to original post
Ubi, can't keep going on like this, adding co-op for custom maps next month is awesome! But not being able to delete maps that have bugs only AFTER publishing (like the animals not leaving broken cages) is just ridiculous! My map was fine in play model, publish it and now have a bear that won't leave, and changes the whole game play and is annoying as hell because it is in a constant loud growl cycle, PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!

How am i supposed to delete my maps? There are over a dozen with the same name, and the new ones are shown at the bottom! WTFOriginally Posted by Janne252 Go to original post

Urgh. Yeah, it's a frustrating issue. How could they have overlooked this? I mean, I know NOW that if I need to upload a new version of my map that I should change the name, but it's seriously not something that I thought would be an issue. At least let us change the title/info for the published maps- or add a creator's note for players to read before they play. At least then I could write "This, apparently, was my beta test version and it has since been improved. Save yourself some time and ignore this map."
I have been a fan of the Far Cry series for a while now, and really enjoy making maps, but it seems with each new iteration of the game they seem to keep making it worse. This problem is horrid. If you can't remove your older versions of maps then you will be essentially browsing a bunch of test maps. It is discouraging to say the least. Makes me feel like I wasted a lot of time and effort, only to publish something that is incorrectly labeled, and/or unfinished, and it cannot be undone. Apparently Ubisoft doesn't care about this kind of thing. They release unfinished work all the time. Really makes me want to walk away from Far Cry altogether. How can I keep supporting a company that clearly doesn't listen to players, or care about the experience they are selling? I was holding out the last bit of hope for this series, but with each disappointment I am closer and closer to hanging up the map editor, and Far Cry for good. Even posting here on the forums I feel as though I am shouting into the wind, because as we all know, the likelihood of them fixing this is slim to none. If they don't fix this, the Ubisoft logo will not be crossing my screen in the future. I know I sound like I am being dramatic here, but enough is enough. They keep taking what was once great, and hacking off things that worked just fine. The last two games are still riding on the strength of Far Cry 1 & 2. We are feeding and clothing these people by giving them money, you would think that that would count for something. The gamers are their bread and butter. Is it really that unreasonable to expect more from a triple A title?
I found this frustrating too. I published two maps with the same name and picture, where one is an updated version with some bug fixes. I tweeted at Alex that it would be great if they fixed it, and he favorited the tweet which I interpreted as a:
*nods* (Got it! ;D)
...But I have no idea lol XD
I think the next update will let us unpublish maps though, because we could do this in previous games, and I can only imagine the devs would gain from having duplicate maps unloaded from their servers =)
Hi mate, please could you give us an update on that.Originally Posted by xMiiSTY Go to original post
Ps: check the MAP: WILL EAT YOU ALIVE. I spent hours on that.
Thank you very much.
Cheers
xMiiSTY, How is this coming along? I think they have had ample time to correct it. Unless of course they don't care.Originally Posted by xMiiSTY Go to original post
