Is anyone running this game with a Dual Core?

Ok, so this is the big fat elephant in the room.

Is there anyone actually running this game with a dual core processor?

Has the recent 1.4.0 patch allowed the game to run with anyone with a dual core?

Please people with dual core processors, please post in this thread. We need to know if Far cry 4 is working for you or not.

I have a Dual Core E8400. I cannot play this game, black screen,

This processor has managed to run games like Wolfenstein (which had equal to greater reuirements) with no problem at all.

No one from Ubisoft is directly answering this question regarding dual core support.

    A disgrace!

Please let the community know if you can run this game on your dual core processor, and please detail what processor you have.

    ***UPDATE***

So in the last few hours some reputable online PC sites have started reporting that Far cry 4 does not run on dual core processors.

The black screen issue seems to be caused by two separate issues 1) USB conflicts 2) Duo core processor non-compatibility

Well, it looks like it is finally the end of dual core gaming has arrived.

If you have a straight dual core processor then you will not be able to run Far Cry 4. End of story. This appears to be fact, and Ubisofts silence on the matter seems to further lend credence to this fact. A couple of other AAA games have recently been released without dual core support, so this looks like it might be a trend.

However, if you have a dual core processor with hyper-threading (it "fakes" 4 cores) then you will be able to run Far cry 4 but with some serious performance hits. I suspect that many people who are complaining about very poor performance have dual cores with hyper-threading.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news. If you have a straight-up duo core processor then don't waste your time waiting for a patch. It won't happen. You will need to buy a new CPU, and likely a new motherboard to run that CPU. I wish I was advised of this a week ago!!!

So, looks like I will have to buy a new CPU to play AAA games now

    **** UPDATE ****

Like you guys I have not been able to play Far cry 4 for a week, and even the most recent patch did not allow me to play the game. Dual Core = Black Screen.

So I decided to buy myself a new mobo and a I5 Quad core. I needed an update anyway. This is the only thing I added to my system, everything else stayed the same. My graphics card is a GTX560.

Anyways, I can now play Far Cry 4 and it runs like a dream!!!!

So yeah, Far Cry 4 is very poorly optimised for dual cores with hyper threading (i.e. stuttering and glitches) and flat-out does not run on standard dual cores (like my E8400).

They may or may not fix this issue, but something tells me it won't happen any time soon.

G3258 @ 4.5 GHz with a 280x here. Not working. This is pathetic.

I can play Battlefield 4 on ultra at 60 fps. Hell, I can play Crysis 3 on very high (there is no ultra preset) at 50 fps or so.

If this wasn't so pathetically coded it would work just fine.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare wouldn't boot on a dual core, but at least they told you when you tried to boot it what the problem was. But some good guy in the community released a new .exe for that game, and it worked, and guess what - I put the game on ultra and got 60 fps.

This is a disgrace from Ubisoft, but that is nothing new.

And just to make it worse, the minimum spec is "Intel Core i5-750 @ 2.6 GHz". My processor is actually better than this one!

Except that these are all just artificial barriers. FC4 doesn't even utilize all its cores, it works on core 3. If it was core 0, there would be no problem.

You are totally wrong on this. It is just companies screwing people over and being lazy when developing, not a case of true multi core usage.

Remember, this game works on a Xbox 360!!!! Some dual cores are better at multi threaded tasks than some older quad cores. How hard is that to understand? Runs on Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz. Not as powerful as a G3258 at 4.5 GHz. An overclocked G3258 will compete with the newest i3. Quit buying in to their crap.

If they don't drop the ridiculous CPU core check, they're going to have a lot of very angry people. I preordered back when the requirements were still dual core, and I'm still unable to play the game. My CPU, with an NVidia Titan GPU, runs Crysis 3 just fine. I know Far Cry 4 is not nearly as harsh as that... Get your programmers to change the core 3 check to a core 0 check, and get rid of these artificial restrictions, ASAP.

I have a duo core and...
I can play unity on 40 FPS on very high.
Cod AW on 50-60 on ultra.
Yet I cant even start far cry 4. I guess Far cry 4 even the lowest of the low is still better than battlefield 4 ultra settigns that get me 60 FPS.
Well GG Ubisoft. You are proven yourself the best gaming company with Unity and this masterpiece right here. You guys are geniuses.

The latest well-optimized and running game I know from Ubisoft was Far Cry 2...

    I suppose http://www.gamespot.com/forums/syste...soft-31695562/ is true.

I really feel sorry, if this is true. The management should be sacked.

    G3258 running happily at 4.5Ghz.
Played though COD - AW the other day, high settings ran like dream. Just installed as normal, latest updates etc.

Farcry 4 won't start. No error messages. No 'upgrade your cpu due to our poor optimization' messages. Nada.

    Disappointing.
