Cannot Save Games on PC version
On the PC version, I cannot get the game to save beyond the interrogation / electrocution scene in the beginning compound. No matter how far I go beyond that point, and then hit Save and Quit, when I re-load the campaign it always starts at the interrogation / electrocution scene. So all my progress beyond that is lost.
How is this not addressed in Patch 2 ??? This renders the PC single player game completely unplayable.
(I've seen "fixes" where you modify farcry4.exe to always run as admin, but this doesn't fix the problem)
As a side question, is it supposed to be impossible to save progress whenever you wish? I see no option for that - which is fine if they want it to be like the original Far Cry in that way - but Far Cry 3 had a quick save / quick load ability that this game seems to lack.
The save system is buggy, it's not working properly like in most pc games where when you tell it to save from the start menu, it saves. A lot of the time it doesn't save.
Seems like the only reliable way to save is to go inside a safe house and then save and quit. So you just need to keep playing until you get to the first safe house in the first town early on.
I think this is the way of saving in the console versions, and they didn't properly set up the pc version where you should be able to save any time you want (except maybe during a mission).
In general I don't think they intended it to be like most pc games where you can quicksave and quickload anytime you want.
NOTE: if you have kept playing and did get to the first save house (where you can use the weapons cabinet/shop to change your weapons) and the game is STILL not saving, then you've got a separate issue.
You can fast travel to safe houses...I think you might have to do one or two more story missions to be able to do this. So when you're ready to quit the game, go to the map, fast travel to any safe house, then hit "save and quit" in the pause menu, and shut the game down. Works for me. If I just hit "save and quit" when I'm wandering around outside, most of the time it doesn't save the last few things I got, like skins and masks and so on.
Tell me about it, learnt it the hard way. Played for a couple of hours, had a lot of fun, crafted a bunch of upgrades, went to the menu, clicked on save and quit to windows. Next time I load up, upgrades gone, loot bag empty, apparently it only saved when I completed a mission, after that nothing at all. So yeah, your best bet is to always go to a safe house to properly save.
