Weird Shading boxes with ATI Radeon HD 8970M

    Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing some weird shading glitches while playing this game. Take a look at this screenshot:

This is the second time that I have this issue with these black boxes appearing on the screen, and the first time was with Far Cry 3 (and apparently, a lot of people had the same problem). I resolved in Far Cry 3 switching to Dx9, but there's no such option in Far Cry 4.

I have already updated my GPU drivers to the latest available.

    Anyone experiencing the same problem?

    Thanks

I have also found this video which show the same issue I'm having (the video is from far cry 3, but the problem is exactly the same)

I have the same problem and I have been trying several things to fix it without success(Different Driver combinations of Intel/AMD; several settings configurations in the GamerProfile.xml etc.) If you can deactivate the Intel GPU I'm pretty sure this might fix it, since this glitch originated from the switchable graphics in Far Cry 3. I can't disable it unfortunately due to manufacturer limitations on my notebook. So I guess all we can do so far is wait and see if Ubisoft or AMD will address this issue.

    Same here

    Same here, 7970M.

AND I FINALLY JUST SOLVED IT : you have to totally disable your low consumption GPU. (Intel 4000 for me). I did it with my Alienware "Fn" + "F7" keys. Works like a charm now.

I hope the same for you guys !

Unfortunately my laptop does not have an option to disable the integrated GPU, non even in the BIOS. I hope this bug will be solved, is really too annoying playing in these conditions

    this still?

So this problem persists!?... is there no dx9 option like in FC3 to get rid of the boxes?

Is it too hard to fix this or they just don't care about switchable graphics card users?(amd r7 m265/intel hd 4600 here). Damn I was looking forward to play this in the holidays...

    Hello,
    i have the same probleme!
My graphic card is hd 8750M with an i7 with integrated graphic chip.
I tried the newest stable an the newest beta driver! Both the same!

My idea ist to deactivate the graphic chip of the CPU via "Device Manager"!
I will test it this evening!

I hope UBISOFT or AMD will fix this very soon! I cant'n understand, why this problem still exists. They know it from FC3.

Deactivating the Intel GPU through the device manager won't work. You have to be able to disable it trough BIOS and/or with an FN key combination(like on Alienware, where it is FN+F7). If you don't have one of these possibilities you have to wait till it gets fixed(if it ever will be). The problem is most notebooks dedicated GPUs have to stream the data through the Intel GPU because it is the only one which is connected to the display panel. The switch is controlled by software for most manufacturers and not on a hardware level. However Far Cry 4 seems not to support Dx9(at least forcing it with -dx9 as start up parameter didn't work/setting UseD3D11="0"). But this wouldn't solve the issue for all people with this problem(since it didn't solve it for everyone with Far Cry 3).

EDIT: Don't start trying other drivers I have tried almost all till 14.4. the problem exists with every one of them(i even downgraded the Intel Drivers and used them both in different combinations). Either the next patch will hopefully fix it or AMD will address it in a new beta/stable release.

I have also sent an email to my laptop's manufacturer, asking for a bios update that could allow me to disable the IGP, but they said it won't be possible. (it's a reseller of clevo barebone laptops).

So the only hope are Ubisoft or AMD, and considering how they fixed the problem in Far Cry 3.... let's just say I'm not so optimistic.

Lesson learned anyway, never buy something from Ubisoft

I'd also blame AMD but the only problem I had with switchable graphics was with FarCry/proudly presented DUNIA engine so...
