So first question is Far Cry 4 any good? and can you use a Controller to play it if you wanted to? I have Xbox One and also recently got back into PC gaming but sometimes like the controller better. And trying to figure out if this game is worth buying and if so which platform to get it on.. As I don't have any PC games I play, I'm trying to expend my PC gaming list.. what u guys think? can u use a controller?
After some simple tweaks for frame rate stuttering, it's a good game single player at 15.5 hrs/28% completion (I'm enjoying the scenery). I haven't done much except clear 1/8th of the map but i'm pretty sure i'll get to 60%+ just likeac2, AC3, Black Flag, FC3, etc.
Has a lot of bugs but i assume they'll be patched by Christmas, give or take. I'd recommend, if you're going to get it, looking up the fixes for stuttering.

The XBox One controller works well on the game. I've been using since day 2 of the release. Don't waste you money on the game. Wait several months so the problems can be fixed. I can't do anything without the game crashing. The game is beautiful when it works, it just doesn't work reliably.
If I could get my money back I would.
[QUOTE=glbernini;10369215]The controller works well, but it is also, for myself and several others, the root cause of the black screen/ loading issue. I've been getting around this by alt-tab to go out and back into the game, which kick-starts the loading. I've had constant issues in game as well, with cut scenes, checkpoints, doors, buildings, animals, enemies etc all not loading until I Alt-tab. Yesterday I found a reference to the 360 controller being the cause and that unplugging it and plugging back in has the same effect as Alt-tab. I can confirm this, so it's a conflict with the Xbox drivers. Patch 1.4 did not fix this for me. I played it yesterday with K&M after disconnecting the wireless receiver for the 360 and encountered no load issues and around 10x more animal encounters.Originally Posted by PythonTN Go to original post
Despite the frustration, I've racked up 30+ hrs. I haven't progressed the campaign at all, but I've unlocked all the towers in the south.
This game is the most visually beautiful game I've played. I have 2x780 Ti's and I can run everything on Ultra with Godrays set to advanced, as long as I leave AA on SMAA. I haven't installed the 345.75 drivers that have MSAA support, because of the issues a lot of people have reported.
If you can run it at very high or Ultra, it will amaze you to look at. Frame rates run at 91fps on average for me when benchmarked, but I play on my TV, so I have V-sync on normally.
Once the bugs are fixed, I can highly recommend this game just on free-roam alone. The only other bug I have noted on my system is that I can't scroill through my inventory, so can't manage anything not visible in the top level. This means I can't dump skins I don't need and has my inventory permanently almost full, despite being up to the last upgrade.
I can sympathise with the desire for a refund. Especially if you were hoping that this would partially make up for ACU, but I would much prefer the bugs fixed because this game can be awesome when it's running.
